Bit of a late response but it might be helpful. If you already have Minecraft on your phone, You might be able to get it on your computer without spending money. This only works though if you have installed it on an android phone or if your computer can run ios apps. (Most Macos devices are able to through Apple Xcode or other programs.)
If it is the former, You can use an android emulator like Android Studio (Meant for developers, Not ideal for gaming.) or Blue-stacks (Better for gaming and super simple but it has advertisements within the launcher.) and download Minecraft from the Google Play Store. If you do it that way, It's like if you downloaded Minecraft to a new phone except for the fact that your computer probably isn't as pocketable.
I am not familiar with the latter process as I am not part of the apple ecosystem so I can't really comment on that.
