Unbanning -

I'll get straight to the point. I believe that most hackers are getting unbanned easily, maybe too easily. I say this as mostly, they use sympathy and also the sorry factor of hacking, in which staff give out an extra chance. Half of these ban appeals DO NOT even use the ban appeal format given.

Ray is a nice person, but I believe that his kindness is what brings him down. It is clearly shown that he had said he was banned and that he apologised to try and get unbanned - which did happen as a result of Ray giving a second chance of playing on the server again. That was pretty nice, and light, but HE WAS HACKING.

Now, you may say - He confessed that he was a hacker and that he should have a second chance!

Well I disagree.
What was the purpose of the Ban Appeal ?

The main purpose was to make an appeal if you were MISTAKENLY BANNED.

Also
, Ziko had made a thread a while back -
https://brokenlens.xyz/forums/threads/read-before-making-an-appeal.3548/

It had specifically said that "even you say "you'll never do it again," we still won't un-ban you because you may still hack although you said you aren't going to anymore." Well that was debunked fast.

Well, since my kind personality when writing this - I believe that maybe they should be given a long temp-ban IF PERM-BAN and a shortened temp-ban for any temp-banned hackers.

I hope justice will be served to these hackers -

I do personally agree with this. What I would do is make them use the correct ban appeal format. That's a test. How?If they even bother to use the correct ban appeal format, then they're probably sorry, if not, they probably don't care and just want to hack again.I just want pretty much everyone to be aware of this, because I see this happening a lot.It has to stop.I think that anyone who wants to be unbanned should Just be straight away directed to the correct ban appeal format, it's easier to figure out who banned who and to get the details.

As for what Ziko said, I think Plush was the one who was giving out second chances. Is this something that should be stopped or not?Considering Ziko said not to allow to unban them, even if they say that..

My idea, if they make the correct ban appeal, they should just be temp-banned for a long time as a second chance :/

Why does everyone make it seem like you dont care if you don't use the format? Not everyone looks at it before making a thread and even when the link is posted some people still don't understand for various reasons (ex: language barrier). It doesn't always mean they don't care.

I do agree with the reducing the people who admit/apologize ban. I'd suggest maybe 3 months?

This is my own personal opinion but I'm sorry. I have to disagree. However, I have considered and respected yours.

Why are you assuming? Why are you just assuming hackers have bad intentions? They could mean what they say.

They made the effort to come on here. They made the effort to create an account. They made the effort to reach out to us. Most people on BrokenLens don't even bother to do that! Even the most skilled and popular players don't make that effort.

Hackers are humans too. Why have we created a hacker stereotype? They make mistakes too. You can't blame them for getting angry at us. If you had lost all respect from everyone, your status and your friends, wouldn't you feel desperate too? And then we have some forum members who laugh at their attempts. Hackers apologising seems a lot like a display of respect which is better than what some of the people on here show each other. That's why we unban hackers because unlike some people on here they acknowledge their mistakes and desire change.

Maybe Ray's kindness can be seen as a weakness. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE IT ISN'T. You know that "Old BrokenLens" you all miss? How can we achieve that again if we don't take risks and show trust in each other?

Ray's kindness gives people hope. His friendliness inspires them to change. He may unban a lot of people but have you checked his profile? Have you seen how many people thank him? Doesn't this show respect for him? For the community? Do you really think they'll go against the rules now?

Being classed as 'mistakenly banned' is all a matter of opinion. They have every right to come on and fight for their unbanning if they feel like it was mistake.
If they feel that they could be better.

Not only does a staff member have to be firm with rules but they also have to be kind. I know for a fact that staff aren't dumb enough to unban people who are rude, disrespectful or refuse to acknowledge their mistakes. Other than that, why shouldn't they be unbanned?

All staff have their own ways of managing their duties. That "you can't be unbanned" view belongs to only Ziko and others may agree. What's good about staff is their diversity on matters. It shows that this server accepts anyone and anyone can become a staff, no matter what their personality or opinions.

I do agree with your idea though. I like it. Thanks for suggesting.

@Ray_Palmer_Atom told me that wanting to change is just the first step. These hackers could give up on their hacks and become some of the biggest legends on minigames. You never know - you could actually befriend one. In order for that to happen, you need to trust staff. Because part of being a human is seeing the good in people when others can't.

This is all very true and as a person who used to give out second chances (sometimes) I know that at least one (now a legit player) is on the leaderboard. I also happen to be friend with one who is now also a legit player. I am very glad that I did give them a chance to stop hacking. I do also know that some continued but it wasn't a big deal we just banned them again.

My Opinion

- Hackers with any type of intention should never be unbanned
- Instead of just making / following the ban appeal format, make them write a paragraph persuading staff member to unban them. Then they're going to have a poll where people can vote whether to unban or not.

Horrible ideas but whatever

I thought I was in HungerGames thread lol I was "huh did she post that here" xD

I think we actually Don't explain to the Banned person How to write anew appeal because lot of the new Players on forums are banned players who want to be unbanned

I agree bro but like if it's a legit player and hight level who turned wrong maybe we could let me a chance
So if I understand clearly , You are saying that Higher level should get banned less than Low levels?
