Staff Q&A

So... before I ask my question, a little explanation.

Whenever I'm in a game with staff I feel super awkward, like, "I'm not worthy to speak to them," or, "I can't attack them."
I remember being in an MM game where Hazard was hiding in the haunted house, with his neon TRIAL tag showing... and I just avoided the house at all costs because I worried of getting in the way of... IDEK what XD
And when you were murderer, Warrior, and I was sheriff. I usually try to watch some of the innocents, but I didn't want to tag along after a staff member, and after I shot you I half-expected to be banned or something XD
I know it's stupid, I tell myself that it's unnecessary, but I think that anyway

Okay, so after that 'little' explanation, here's the question: do you guys ever feel that awkwardness? What's it like for you if you're in a game and there's a player who clearly feels that way? Or do you not really notice it, although you know there are some of us like that?

Lol I feel that too! It's mostly because I've played on other servers where the staff are INSANE and they ban you for the littlest things, such as killing them or helping somebody in survival mode build a house. Now I carry that feeling to every server because I don't want to get banned again

All - What was your experience like before you became a staff member? Were there things you didn’t realise until you became a staff member? Is there a certain thing you like to do to relax after going through a rough day? Do you agree with any one of these? -

When I'm on server and I feel like banning hackers, I log onto forums on my phone and join the server on my iPad. But when I'm not, I always use my iPad for both forums and server.

Well I use two devices...If you have computer/laptop u can use..that's ok bcuz if u have a problem in there..its solved..U don't have to quit and join again on server

How did you manage to persevere after being demoted to try be promoted again? Like what was your motivation?

Just kep on trying because I worked hard on earning the rank and I was gonna prove to him I was gonna just keep on trying and show him I was worthy of being a Moderator.

Is it annoying to be a staff member? Like when people ask you to friend them and stuff like that.

All staff: How do you juggle life in and out of forums? For example, do you have a personal life and then go on forums?

So first
8 - 9 hours school hours 2 hours Badminton training (everyday)

So I just go in servers or Forums For some days in weekends..

You are absolutely right. 1. This is because we feel good and are so proud of our rank that we have ranks. The rank can help us improve our experience and to use our powers and is special for what we need. 2. (The last question) Because I'm just curious.

I like it. It’s interesting to see what people think makes a good staff. Though it gets repetitive fast. There are some really good ones but more are like ‘I’ll ban hacker’.

Well, yeah, I LOGICALLY know you wouldn't ban someone for that - you aren't petty like that, and if you were you wouldn't have been made staff - but I couldn't help feeling that there would be some sort of consequence XD Like I said before, I KNOW I don't have to feel that way, that you guys aren't 'powerful gods' as you put it, but I can't help it

So you're pretty much a normal player, as far as people can tell? Yeah that sounds like it must make things more comfortable, so you don't have some player that comes to try to kneel (*crouch) down before you and worship you XD or, like me, being nervous to come within ten blocks of you because of whatever weird thing goes on in my mind to prevent that XD

Before being staff? Well I played HS all the time. I don’t know if there’s anything I didn’t realize. It’s been a while and I’ve learned a lot of stuff on the way but.

Some day in July 2016 I got added to a convo with Aypi and Vertx. Vertx didn't say anything, but Aypi basically said "we've noticed that you are being helpful, active, blah blah blah, would you like to join the staff team?". Then Aypi tried to set my rank a few times, but apparently he kept typing in the wrong name, so it was a couple of weeks before I actually had the Trial rank .-. xD

What makes a good day for staff?

A good day (in my opinion) would be chatting on the forums with friends, and preferably getting rid of some hackers/rule breakers at some point xD Talking about anything really, whether it's something important, or just random, useless things like Harry Potter puns Also what Warrior said - simply when someone says something nice to you or thanks you. Just a reminder that you are a part of this community and that people appreciate what you're doing

A bad day? Umm, sorting out really complicated ban appeals that have about 10 different stories from different people (*cough* Winbran's ban appeals). Or messing up at something, such as banning an innocent person.

I feel pretty awkward and a bit arrogant even, as if I'm trying to show everyone that I'm superior to them or something. So yeah, I almost always keep my tag off. If there was someone who felt like that then I'd say hi to them or make a (rubbish) joke, just to be friendly

It was mostly having utterly useless but entertaining conversations with friends, and getting killed in OITC (that's what I do best). I don't really remember things that I didn't realise. Listening to music is always nice
