I take care of two stray cats. They visit my patio and I feed them every night. However, a few days ago one of them came back with a horrible wound on his jaw. Its too big to be from a cat fight. He may have been attacked by a dog or kicked by a person. I've been spraying it with hydrogen peroxide as much as I can to keep the infection out. However, he keeps scratching it which can make it worse. It will be difficult to foster him indoors because he will fight with the other cats, plus it will be nearly impossible to catch him. I can't take him to thr vet because we have a crappy vet where I live and they'll just euthanize him because he is a stray. If he dies, I dont know what I will do. I may never come back.

Huh. The graphic images are smaller. Well, that's good, I guess. Raven is eating and drinking, which is good. He is also getting plenty of rest. However, he does have a runny nose which worries me.

I do have lots of hope. He is strong, he's had a huge absess before and he survived that. He also has lots of 'battle scars' on his face, ears and scruff from mating battles that have healed over without infection. Surely he can live through this. Also, one time we took in a kitten with a simular wound on her neck. We don't know if it is a burn or some kind of allergy she kepts scratching, but it healed eventually. If a young kitten can survive it, then surely an adult male can.

I recommend wrapping his paw so he can’t reach the cut. Maybe a cone would help? Idk, I hope he feels better soon! <3
Well, I can't do any of that because a cone usually is for surgeries so the animal won't lick the sutures on their underbelly, and if I put one on Raven it might rub the wound. I can't put anything on his paws because he leaves my patio during the day and if he gets attacked by a cat, he will be defenseless. He'll find a way to chew it off, anyways. I know feral cats. xD

So far, no sign of infection. However, the wound hasn't scabbed over yet. We will be buying medication for him. Raven shows no symptons of illness and is still very active (and lovey!)
