I'm a rather new player, I've only been playing for a year, and I love the simple feel of Minecraft, I think that as long as we have good people at mojang Minecraft won't fully lose that simple spark

True, but I think that Minecraft isn't going to go bad anytime soon, Jeb has been here since the beginning and I think he's still doing a great job. Also, you gotta remember that it was Notch's decision to sell the game, also, the game is more popular than ever and the community makes most of the choices for the updates. Yeah, the combat update was a bit of a fail and that's why mojang is going to update it again sometime, only do what the community wants. Btw, I fully understand how you feel, I think so, at least.
Mmyes, i started playing minecraft when the 1.4 update came out, it's around 5 years ago if i could remember. it was good, and then i got into a very long hiatus because my friend passed away because of car crash. He was the one who teach me some basic stuff in minecraft. It was confusing at that time but i love it.
