okay so, I don’t want any XD funny dark humor comments please, I am serious. Okay so a few hours ago my grandmas cat got run over and they may have to put it down, I’ve known her since I was 2 and she was an amazing cat. Has anyone lost a pet and have any copping methods? I’m pretty upset and so is she. I want to try make her happy when I visit her in October.

I’ve lost two pets so far and my only real coping method was getting another one (but not to replace it cause that just sounds wrong)

Unrelated story: My mom is an animal hoarder, a really bad one, we've had probably over 70 cats, 95% of them died because she can't take care of animals. The reason why so many is because she started with 8 cats, 3 boys and 5 girls, None of them were fixed which caused them to breed like crazy and what can I say, We ended up with too many, She said it was all fine and that it would be OK, But these cats were suffering, It was already expensive enough to feed them, And they weren't trained to go in the litter either which caused the whole house to smell absolutely horrible, It was so bad that I believe that the ammonia caused the cats to catch a sickness which would wipe almost all of them out, Keep in mind I was an innocent eight year old who just wanted to play Little Big Planet but instead had to see cat corpses with their f♥♥♥♥ faces rotting off, Having multiple autistic mental breakdowns at 9 because of this really sucked, Finally in Aug 2018 I went to Florida where I eventually got to move in with my dad until he was arrested 2 weeks ago because nothing can be f♥♥♥♥ normal in my life, And I'm now back with my mother in the same situation, Except with dogs. :)

I did lose my favourite cats, Moe Moe and Tom, Moe Moe got bit by a German Shepherd, Broke his jaw, We took him to the vet where they suggested to put him down, 9 year old me was heartbroken, But we did have the choice to keep him which we obviously did, We had to feed him ourselves until he was able to eat by himself, But eventually he did escape outdoors where he went to our neighbors lawn, That was the last time I saw him. I assume he was either killed by Steve my neighbor or died outside in the wild. I still dream about Moe rarely.

Tom got hit by a car, Instantly perished when hit. There was a lot of blood, Hit me so hard, I was beginning to think that god hated me and wanted to bring nothing but sadness into my life. We buried him next to a huge boulder next to our home, Where I would bring flowers to the grave everyday and pray for him.

I don't know if I can help you much in this situation but I felt like saying this

Well you now have the knowledge to help your mom with the hoarding....?
Possibly save those dogs and get them adopted on the side while shes not looking

Yes, I'm older now and I'm trying to convince her to put the dogs into Animal Shelters or whatever they're called, But it's extremely hard to reason with my mom so that's what I'm considering, sneaking the dogs into the shelter myself, I just don't know if it's possible because I'm a minor

My advice is to maybe give her something in memory of her cat. I have never had any pets in my life before, so I can't tell how it feels, but you can talk about it with your grandma, it'll be the best.

Ohh my god, i’m soo sorry <3
Last time I lost a pet was a couple of years ago and I cried for weeks. Looking back at it now I don’t think I could’ve done anything else to cope with the loss.

Oof I've only had one pet for in my life and I was very young during that time she died. Now I have a dog that I love very much and I don't even know how much sorrow I'd be in If he passed away.

Ive never had any pets before but when my schools nature teachers husband passed away and she was devastated. I made a card for her of reminding her things about her husband like their first date and fun memories they had.

I would recommend making your grandma things that remind her of her cat.


Nothing can replace her cat.

My dog had to be put down almost 2 years ago, he had a problem with his brain (my mother said it was too big for his head and it was starting to poke out of his skull which we weren't able to see thank god)

We haven't gotten a pet since but one thing I suggest is not to get another cat, at least not right away. I grieved for a few days but eventually moved on. I miss him of course but I know he's in a better place.
