“What’s the underworld like to be in for so long?” I asked him. He smiled.
“Well there is no newspapers so I never now what kind of murders there are but I know that it’s hard. I kill zombies for food. I have to stab them. It’s much worse but I can only survive this way.” I gawk at him.
“Why are intruders so bad.”
“You’ll get killed. They’re jealous of you for not being like them and doing…. The worst.” I don’t want to believe him.
“You’re just trying to scare me!” I yell. I rip away from him and run on and on until I can’t see him. Then I look behind me. He didn’t follow me. Then I hear something. It’s like a hiss. Low and yet hearable.
I stop dead in my tracks. The sound grows, more by the second and I start to back away when all of a sudden it was behind me too. I froze and closed my eyes. Then I built my confidence back up and ran away. I ran farther and farther until I could see the boy.
“It looks like you’re staying here, for a while Amico. Care to ask my name?”
“Yes please.” I say wheezing and gasping for my breath then letting it relax and slow down, then gasp, then slow. It slowly changes and he answers me.
“I’m Zeek.” I like his name and nod. Then I lay down.
“Tell me more about the underworld.”
“Well… Every criminal who didn’t turn into a zombie has a demon. A demon will take over a person and be a zombie if they die but when they’re alive, the demons are your friends and you must have saw a demon in that flower patch, bunnies don’t live here. The demon could have cursed you forever or given you a chance to get out of this terrible world that I’m stuck in.”
“If I can go back how?”
“Mercy. You have to visit the god of the world, you have to visit Zeus and his wife and sister, Hera. I cannot come with you, only to the foot of the castle, in Mount Olympus.”
“How do we get there?”
“We use demons.”
