Soo here's one of the rare stories that doesn't have anything to do with members on forums.

Max is an unsociable person at school and his life is basically just sleep, eat and toilet everyday, over and over. This procedure was continuous, until this day came.

Max is a just a normal everyday boy you'll see, 12 years old, blue eyes, scruffy hair and a T-shirt, so what makes him so special? Nothing really. He likes to hang out with his group of friends, and only his group of friends, no one else. His group contains of Bryan, Ethan and John.

It was almost Valentine’s Day and this was his first year he's allowed to go to the Valentine’s Day dance and he didn't want to go without a special girl. “Hey,” Max greeted Ethan as he got off the school bus,”do you want to go to the dance this year?” Ethan laughed. “Seriously you really want to go to that dumb dance?” “Sure why not?” Max replied. As they walked to class, Max caught Emily at the corner of his eye. She's so beautiful Max thought.

Emily is a girl that everyone adores, but she is also a very picky girl. She declines every request to dance with her, no matter who asked her. She had glasses, long brown hair and matching brown eyes. Her eyes seemed to sparkle and her black-rimmed glasses only made her prettier.

At the time, she was not thinking of dancing with anyone, in fact, she didn’t want to dance with anyone. None of the boys seemed to like her for her personality, just her looks.

Gliding carefully to her homeroom door, she saw a boy catch her eye, he had messy blond hair and blue eyes. He looked as old as Emily and she was surprised she had never seen him.

She returned his gaze, and for a split second the pair looked at each other before retreating to look at something or someone else. Emily was curious to know who he was, but she had to get to class.

She sat next to her closest friends, Ava and Ellie. Ava had gold hair that came down to about half her stomach, while Ellie had blond hair, as long as Emily’s. These three had known each other since they were in preschool and they were the shiest girls. Now Emily was the most popular and coolest girl out of the entire grade, maybe even the school.

“Ava?” Emily began to ask Ava who that boy was, when there homeroom teacher strode through the door. The class fell silent. Emily’s homeroom teacher was one of the strictest teachers in the school. She had short black hair and black eyes, that didn’t have much of a kind look to them.

She had a glare on her face at all times, she was thin and small, a little bit smaller than the tallest kid in class. With a face like hers, not many people said no to her, but a student way back, had created a rumour that she once punched a student who didn’t turn in his homework.

Her name was Mrs. Gravey. Just how it sounds. It was another reason for the students to be terrified of her.

But today, her face was more a sad frown. Emily wasn’t sure she had seen this expression on anyone’s face, but for some reason she was able to identify it. Mrs. Gravey didn’t say anything, she just went over to her desk, and started to work. The class by now didn’t care and began to talk again. Emily ignored her friend’s talk about some new app and doodled in her notebook. She tried to redraw the boy’s face, but messy hair and blue eyes was all she could remember. Sighing, she looked up to see Ava and Ellie watching her. The drawing on her notebook was a face, messy hair and two eyes. They weren’t even colored. But Ava and Ellie knew who it was.

“Why are you drawing Max?” Ava asked and Ellie nodded, adding in a head shake. Emily blushed and smiled at the same time, which looked cute.

“Oh no.” Ellie kind of shook her head. “You like Max?” Emily turned her head to Ellie, “No, I was just curious to know who he was.”

Max thought of Emily in homeroom and in his next class, English. He thought of her beautiful face staring at him, then they locked eyes. It all happened so fast, it was almost like a day-dream. Shaking it off, he noticed his English teacher, Mr. Addly, staring directly at him,“Max, what is the origin of cyclophobia?”

“I don’t know, sir.” Max replied unsurely. Mr. Addly jotted down something in his binder and shook his head as a sign of disapproval.

As Max was walking to his next class, he passed by Emily again, but this time she gave a little wave, then quickly ended it and turned back to her friends. Max looked back at his friends,“Woah,”John whispered loudly into Max’s ear,“I think she saw you!” Max’s heart was thumping like kettle drums, she waved! At him! At least he thought she did.

It was lunch, Emily sat down at the “popular” table, she actually felt like she wanted to sit down beside the boy, Max, but his table only consisted of 4 boys, so she would be given out easily. Instead, she wrote on a napkin:

Meet me after school backstage -Emily

“I’m going to the restroom for a sec, be right back.” She announced the group of people at her table. They gave a nod of approval and she unsteadily walked behind Max and pretended to accidentally bump into his chair.

Max was just eating and chatting to his friends about how March break is coming next month, when he felt a nudge at his chair, he turned back to see Emily holding a napkin. “Take this.” Emily murmured and quickly walked away. No one at his table saw him, but someone did, Andrew, his bully. He quietly tucked the napkin into his sweater pocket and tried to convince himself that nothing just happened.

At exactly three o’clock the bell rang and the students tumbled out of their classrooms, eager to go home. But instead of going home, Emily sneaks into the auditorium and behind the stage. Turning on the lights, chairs and props for school plays come into view when she turns the light on. On the other side of the stage she saw Max glancing around at the lights.

“I’ve never been here before,” Max commented and blushes as he strolls over quickly to Emily. The curtains were drawn and they didn’t want to create any trouble.

“Tell me about yourself,” Emily told Max.“like what are your hobbies?”

“I like drawing.” Max answered, blushing. Emily nodded,“I do too!” For a moment they were silent. Before Max said something,“Want to go somewhere else?” Max asks,“This place gives me the chills.”

“Okay.” Emily replies.

“How about the art room?” Max asks.

“Sure.”

Max started to walk down the stairs, Emily followed him at the same momentum. As they walked, both of them were silent, walking down the halls, towards the art room.

When they arrived, Mr. Brun, the art teacher, greeted them as they entered and assigned them a table in the corner.

“We’re finishing a project.” Emily explained when Mr. Brun asked why they were there.

“Do any of you need help?” Mr. Brun adds. Emily and Max shook their heads. They each got a piece of blank paper and left it in front of them, untouched.

After talking to each other about hobbies, habits and interests, they both share a couple common things: They both enjoy pizza, drawing and they both dislike Mrs. Gravey. But eventually, Emily has to go home. Her younger sister, Scarlet has tennis practice and her mom expects her home by then.

“I have to get home.” Emily says glancing at her watch. Max nods.

“Same.” They both get up at the same time and walk to the door, waving goodbye to Mr. Brun,

who is putting up artwork on the walls. When Emily and Max get to the end of the hallway, and into the front of the school, they both look at each other.

“See you soon.” Emily blushes and proceeds to walk one way while Max walks the other. |

Screaming is the only thing you can hear inside Emily’s house. Screaming, screaming screaming. It’s super loud with her six other brothers and sisters. Her sister who also shares being the middle child with her, Scarlet, is mostly the only person Emily talks too in her house. Her youngest sibling, Ally, can’t talk yet, so she can’t talk to her. Emily’s oldest siblings are all boys, Kyle, Miles, Julian and Alec. They were all quite annoying, so Emily basically decided just to ignore them whenever she could.

“It’s time to go Emily!” Scarlet grabbed her sister’s hand. Emily walked Scarlet to tennis and their mom picked them up. While walking, Emily tried to ask Scarlet questions to keep her busy and talking so Emily didn’t have to talk.

“How’s school?” Emily looked down at her sister, but as she talked Emily’s mind wasn’t listening. All she could process in her mind was Max.

The dance is in 4 days and Max still come up with a plan to ask Emily out. “Should I just go for it?” Max questioned himself, thinking out loud,“or should I wait ‘till the day before the dance or until she asks me?” Considering it was 11 at night, he went to bed, but the only dreams he had were him and Emily at the dance, together.

The next day came and for once in his life, Max is excited for school. He devoured his breakfast and walked his way to the bus stop, he was surprisingly early, the bus comes at 8:10 and he was there at 8. Then he realized, he was always supposed to be the last one there because Andrew always came first. Max turned around to the sight of Andrew standing right above him.“Emily’s mine for the dance,”Andrew declared,“and not anyone's going to prevent it, especially you, Scrawny.”

Emily walked to Ellie's house so they could walk to school together. When she arrived, she watched Ellie wave to her mom and stepped down her porch.

“Hey Ellie!” Emily exclaimed.

“Hey, Emily?” Ellie looked at Emily puzzled,“we agreed to FaceTime after school to do homework, remember?”

Emily took a while to process what information Ellie just shared with her, but she really couldn't recall that Ellie’s said that at all!

“Oh right! I'm so sorry! I forgot you said that, I had to take my sister to tennis practice so I didn't really have time.” Emily lied.

“It's alright, the homeworks not due until February 15th anyway,” Ellis comforted Emily. Emily felt bad for lying, but what else could she have worded that and didn't give away the fact that she liked Max?

The bus ride to school was a terrifying bus ride for Max. He saw Emily walking to school with her friend, Ellie, but besides that, all he saw was the world going by. His face was smashed into the window, and it stayed that way until they got off the bus. By then, Max’s nose was hurting and probably red.

Right as Max got off the bus, Emily and Ellie arrived at school. Emily glanced at Max but didn't say anything and scurried away. Andrew watched him from behind, scoffed, then went to class.

“Max!” Emily’s voice shouted, just a little too loud. Most of the people in the hallway glanced their way. Emily didn’t seem to mind, she was used to getting attention, but Max started blushing furiously.

In the crowd, towering over everyone was Andrew. When Max spotted him he cringed and touched his nose, which still hurt. Andrew didn’t say anything again though, he just walked away, waiting for Max to be alone.

“Uh, hi.” Max answered Emily once all the kids had stopped paying attention.

“Do you want to,” She stopped for a second, leaving Max in suspense, “try out for the play with me?”

Inside Max’s mind, he groaned. But he kind of had this planned out, right as she said that. They would both get parts then as they were walking out, Max would ask Emily to the dance. Or would she ask him? It was still a little complicated, but Max was sure he could figure it out.

“Sure. W-When is the try-outs?” Max stammered.

“After school. They allow you to read from scripts. I’m sure you’ll do great without any practice.”

I hope. Max thought.

Max was lucky he hasn't gotten into any fights with Andrew today, he felt even more secure because of the fact that Andrew went home already. But, it was time to try-out for the play. “I'll be alright,” Max tried to reassure himself as he made his way to the gymnasium. Along the way, Emily came from behind him and tapped him on the shoulder,”You alright?” Emily asked. “Yes, yeah.” Max responded right away, making Emily feel worried.

The practice turned out great until Max tripped over a prop.”Oww,” Max moaned. “Are you okay?” Their instructor, Ms. Kelly, asks, providing a hand. “I'm fine,” Max grunts, then hastily adds,”thank you, Ms. K.” I shouldn't have asked him to come Emily thought uneasily as she watched Max get up himself.

When Emily got home she immediately texted Ellie and said she was free to do homework, but a few minutes into their homework FaceTime, Max texts her,”Hi” Max sent. “Ellie can you give me a minute? Mrs. Gravey says she sent me my math test mark online, I bet I got horrible.””Yeah, go ahead, I didn't get mine back yet though.” Ellie told Emily.

“Can u txt me l8er, I’m kinda busy rn, sry”

“Yea, np”

Emily gets back on the call. “I didn't get my mark back either, weird.” Emily said.

After receiving the text from Emily, he was disappointed, he wanted to tell her he didn't want to participate. But re-thinking it, he might have a chance to ask her to the dance while practicing for the play. Everything has its pros and cons I guess Max realised. He decided to keep going to practices and he will eventually ask her out, or in, is the dance an in or an out? Max’s head hurt after doing all that thinking and decided to get some shut eye for tomorrow.

“Wake up!” Emily’s older brother, Alec came into her room at 3:00 am, telling her to get up. “Shut up!” Emily yelled in response and woke up three of her other siblings, Scarlett, Miles, and Ally, who started to cry.

“Mom's not home.” Miles commented walking into the room, yawning.

“Stop acting like you know everything.” Alec fake-yawned and slapped Miles, who howled in agony.

By now the entire household was up and there was no point in going back to bed. Julian and Scarlett started to prepare breakfast, while Alec, Miles and Kyle all started to take showers, change into nice clothes and gel their hair.

Actually, when the boys finished getting ready they looked less jerky. Like the kind of kid a grown-up would really like.

“Let’s go!” Miles called. It was 8:00, Emily met Ellie at 8:10 and they both met Ava at 8:30. Then school started at 8:45.

“Meet me after school.” Max read over the same words over and over again, can't believing he was doing this. He doesn't even know where to meet her! Oh well. He walked to his bus, late as usual and met Andrew’s eyes, he looked furious knowing that Emily is going with Max. Max went to his classes, thankfully Andrew isn't in his first 2 classes, then break came. Recess was torture for Max, he was thrown against a tree, but Emily saw Max getting beat up from afar and quickly told on Andrew and the boys. The teachers questioned Max to ask how long this has been going and he responded with,“ever since I got here, those boys have been picking on me and friends.”

Thankfully, for Max, Andrew got suspended for a week. Max’s eyes lit up the moment he heard about this. Although he may seem like a wimp getting the whole school knowing he gets beat up, they’ll know how cool I am when I’m with Emily at the dance tomorrow, Max thought happily, then realised he still hasn’t asked Emily yet.

During lunch he slowly wandered to Emily and told her to meet him after school near the main doors, she agreed and he hurried away.

The last bell of the bell rang and Max literally ran to the nearest exit and sprinted to the main doors, waiting for Emily.

Emily waved goodbye to Ava and walked to the entrance of the school to find Max breathe heavily. “You OK?” Emily asked, she was hoping Max would ask her to the dance, she’s too nervous to do it herself. She stuck her hands in her pocket and eagerly waited for Max to ask that one question.

Max drew a deep breath and began reciting what he would say in his head,“w-would you go to the dance w-” “YES!” Emily said a bit too loudly, some teachers leaving the school gave some funny stares. Emily blushed and turned back to Max,“yes, I would gladly.” Max gave a warm smile and said he had to go,“see you tomorrow, Emily.”

The next few days of Max’s life was filled with excitement (help .-.) and a lot of nervousness. On the day of the dance, he was the most nervous, excited, and agitated boy on the dance floor

It had taken more than an hour to get ready, asking his dad for advice.

When he finally arrived at the dance, Emily was waiting in the lobby. He walked up to her and smiled while blushing, at the same time. He took her hand, like a gentleman, and they walked toward the gymnasium doors, they saw others doing the same.

“You ready?” Emily asked.

“Yeah.”
