So I was wondering, what’s the purpose of not replying to old threads, since I don’t really see it
 
Because it causes spam, they bring up old threads which have most likely already been answered or just reply with a simple “lul” whatever it is, if they have a question they can create another thread.

Then other people think it’s new, then they all keep replying lol. :p

In Off-Topic honestly no idea, I don't mind people replying to threads in Off-Topic.

But in Support or FAQ or Bug Reports usually people shouldn't reply to old threads because the thread might be outdated, and having a thread that's outdated and contains something such as a report that it already answered or fixed at the top of the threads list isn't ideal, since it might trick people into thinking it's new.

Old threads replies are usually useless because not many people will see your comment and it causes spam. Hope this helps!

Well, they're technically just "Spam this thread until someone says 10k", which basically means what it says. It's made in Off-Topic and you can do whatever the heck you want in Off-Topic (except explicit content or detailed gore or other 18+ stuff and whatnot). Plus hey if the community enjoys it then so be it

Well then they should really remove the rule “Don’t reply to old threads”, because messages don’t mean s♥♥♥ anymore

It's not about messages Benjy it's about the fact that we don't want to bring up old topics that have been fixed or dealt with already, because it clutters the forums .-.
