maybe its just the way armor works but chestplate can really determine how much damage you take
for example i have 8 armor bars. If i Have an iron chestplate ill take LESS damage than if i had a gold chestplate with the same amount of armor bars filled.
ive tested this in sw multiple times. i cant find any other explanation
