Fiction story by:

Noah Mats, what a familiar name, hm? It reminds me of a name back in my elementary school. Tall guy, curly orange hair, handsome and hot as hell, actually, any girls dream to be with him. But, that’s the problem, he won’t date anyone because his parents restrict him from doing so.
I remember a few months ago, a girl by the name Missy spread a rumor that Noah was dating an Italian girl name Giulia which turned out later on that Giulia was Noah’s cousin which made her instantly popular from other girls and heck, even some boys.

Girls from every side would constantly be on Giulia telling her stuff like, “what’s it like to be living with Noah,” or, “What does Noah do with his free time? What kind of girls is he interested in?” If you had to ask me which nobody bothered since the jerks in elementary school never made contact with me, not even during school group projects, I always thought Noah was a pretty nice guy.

I remembered this one time, a girl with a white shirt and blue jeans tripped me in the hallways that wasn’t crowded but a few people saw that I tripped and instead of helping me, they all laughed at me, on the floor, my whole body wanted to shut down as my face filled with tears.
That’s when Noah came in, people stopped laughing as they spread away from Noah like he was a celebrity. He stood right in front of me, his black and red striped shoes touching the point of my nose.
I laid there, my head under my shoulders as I began to tear up. I heard the sounds of giggles coming from the corners, waiting for the teachers to come out and figure this out. But from what’s about to happen is the unexpected.

“Hey,” His soft voice started to speak to me, the words melting into my ears like Carmela coffee in the winter. I felt like my world was spinning in a single second, the question was, why was this popular kid talking to me and more specifically, what’s he up too?
Whatever it was, everyone stopped giggling which in some form, I appreciate.

“You okay,” that soft and rather cute voice started to melt into my ear again. I wanted to jump into the hair and give him the biggest hug a dream girl could ever want. But instead, I was this loser laying on the school hallways, math and science books laying everywhere, side by side.
I waited for him to give up and leave me there, the loser and nerd from elementary school but surprisingly enough, he didn’t.

“Get to class everyone, please.” He told everyone in a pleasing voice. Without any hesitation, everyone poofed out of the hallways, leaving Noah, the tallest guy in our elementary school and me, the short kid with messed up hair and weird-looking legs.
“C’mon Anais,” somehow knowing my first name. I’m not gonna lie, it did make me blush inside. I decided to lay there, hoping he’ll carry me like a warrior finally defeating the dragon.

“Anais,” He said one more time, his voice sounding a little pressured. I can tell that he was getting frustrated, I mean, he was already late for homeroom and I guess so was I. At that point, I decided to slowly get up, pushing myself up with both hands then, my legs.
“Oh, hey there,” he gave a bright smile that felt like he would melt my face. He fixed his orange curled puffed hair, his strong cologne made me want to fall into his lap, catching me as I fall.

“Oh, um, hey!” I gave that nerdy wave, having my left hand on my back head. My legs were shaking just by looking at how tall he was. I felt like I was talking to a building, me being the short one.
We both stood there, looking at each other’s eyes, his sparkly eyes felt so nice to stare at, like stars talking to me, just me.
“So, I should really be getting to class now, I’m sorry about this.” His smile vanishes, like chocolate being melted in a fire. He shoved his bookbag up his shoulder, looked at me one more time before leaving me standing there in the middle of the hallway.

I wanted to cry again, tear my body apart but at that point, I was just finding a way to get attention. Noah was about halfway to his classroom, so, my ret**ded self did something that I’ll regret my entire life. I yelled, not even a soft shout, shouted to him, “Hey!”

He retrieved his hand that was about to knock on his door homeroom, slowly turning his head to my direction and started to sprint towards me.

“What’s up?” His fluffy hair flew into the air like blossoms blooming in the springtime.
My heart started to beat again, my legs shaking up again. I don’t know why my body does this whenever Noah, the hottest guy is standing right in front of me. I swear, I didn’t even know why this guy was wasting his time with me when he could’ve ignored that “hey,” and knocked on that door.

Sadly for me, I learned that the hard way, but, the very cold way.

I was shaking at this point, as for Noah, he was confused.

“I-i, I was wondering i-if, you want to h-hang around?” I was shaking so hard like a tree in a thunderstorm, words just spit across my mouth. I was ready to bust out crying but somehow, I didn’t.

“Oh, sure Anais! I would love that.” Noah stood there, having that awkward face but trying to hide it with a bright smile.

That was enough for me to want to jump onto him and give him a warm hug, but it was too early for that.

“Yay!” Is all I said, jumping up into the air like a bouncy house kid. We both gave each other the “Alright, see you later,” look and went to our opposite directions to class.

. . .

Now, you might be wondering, “Oh Anais, why is Noah the bad guy in this story? He sounds so sweet and kind!”

Well, as every nice guy out there, there’s a devil in each one of them. Sadly for me, I didn’t get just a devil, but a devil that not only hurt me but would haunt me for the rest of my life.
How you might be asking? Hm, alright, let me tell you a fun tale that almost ended up as a nightmare.

As the elementary school graduation rolled around, it was time to grow up, say goodbye to our good ole’ friends that were moving, and pack up. It was nice to grow up with some of these people that I knew for 7 years that probably didn’t even know who I am too today but, oh well.
I took off my graduation hat, ate two pieces of chocolate cake along with a vanilla cupcake with a little plastic stick saying “2013,” on it. After seeing those whom parents showed up to take them home and start a new chapter in their lives, I stuck around to help clean up since my parents didn’t bother to show up.
It was a hurtful feeling, they even promised to show up 2 weeks after I told them. I looked at the plastic plate, all covered in frosting from the cake along with the empty cans of soda in front of me. I was ready to have one of my meltdowns right in front of the teachers, kids, and even parents but I resisted doing so.

My shoes were covered in colored confetti after the party but I could care less. My mind felt so gray, grayer than the fog in the morning wake-ups. My body felt like shutting down, like a robot being programmed but in this case, hoping to never wake up.
I went to clean up the last pile of trash left to one of the left corner metal seats in the gym when suddenly, I got this cold shiver down my spine, that feeling like someone was right behind me. Sure enough, I got a jumpscare from Noah, making me drop every plastic plate and soda cans all over the place. A blue can mark Pepsi even landed on Noah’s head, spilling the extra liquid left inside of the can.

“Noah!” I froze, watching the spill slide down his cheeks and onto the floor.

“I’m so sorry!” I put my hands around my mouth, not knowing what expression to make. From the corner of my eyes, I could see his parents giggling, surprisingly, not being mad at all.
“Ah, it’s all good Anais, my head feels cool now, aha.” Noah giggles which makes me giggle. He swiped the soda drops left on his cheeks with his index finger and swooped it onto my dirty nose.
“Hey, that tickles!” I laugh, grinning at him as he does the same. It was one of those moments where two friends would kiss out of context but that was far from what I’m asking at the moment.

“Ah,” I glanced at the gym clock on the wall which read 1:40 P.M.
“I could really get going. My folks would be here any time and I haven’t done putting back the metal chairs which are extremely heavy.
I was about to head for the exit when I felt something soft pulling me. I turned around to see Noah grabbing me like I was about to fall or something.
“Oh, Noah.” I took a long look at my hand being pulled by Noah, the most beautiful human being to ever exist in my eyes.

“Shoot, I’m sorry.” He gently let my hand go, shoving his hands into his pants pockets.

“No no Noah, it’s okay.” Me doing the hardest thing and gently moving my hand onto his smooth cheeks. I was surprised that he didn’t move away or told me something like “Ew, get off me,” it was something.
I finally moved away, standing there, glancing at Noah as he looked down. His curly hair now in front of my face.

“Hm.” Noah finally peered his head up again.
“I was wondering, would you like to come over to my house? After all, we are graduating from this school after all these years.” He smiled at me, sorta like a nerdy face when asking someone out.
I took one more look at the clock, reading almost 2 o’clock. Then I thought, “Why even help out a school where one, I would never go to again, two, no teachers even know me that well.”

I took the risk that to today, I would be talking to and said, “Sure,” without rethinking it twice.

I can’t believe it, Me, Anais Kilo, about to hang with what I call him, a gentleman, Noah Mats.
“Nice to meet you, Mrs. Mats,” Mrs. Mats looked extremely tall and to be honest, good looking.

“Hello, um, I didn’t quite catch your name sweaty.” She shook my hand lightly as I told her, “Anais, Anais Kilo.” She smiled, Noah’s mom giving him a big hug in front of me.
Before entering the car which was very fresh, I glanced back at my school and felt something inside of me that I would regret for the rest of my life.
