Minecraft was made in 2009
However it was officially released in 2011 (in October i believe)
So anyone could have been playing since pre classic, classic, indev, infdev, alpha, or beta (those aren't in any order)

Pre classic wasn't even called minecraft, it was called cave game, then in the classic version it was changed to minecraft order of the stone, then it was changed again to minecraft
