What is this pearl recovery?

Server: Skywars (Forgot to record the exact server id.)
Bug Description: I pearl underneath a series of blocks and place more blocks underneath which somehow clips me above the blocks.
(On a somewhat related note, A minute or two after recording that clip, The match really started to lag out for me and I got kicked by the watcher due to latency. I can share the rest of the match if that would help.)
Evidence:


I'm not sure if this is something that can be replicated or if it is the result of latency on my end but it was definitely strange.
