Are you using school wifi?

It has something to do with your internet, I'm pretty sure.

Correct,

If you try accessing the server on a school network or public network with free Wi-Fi access then your connection is classed as not being secure and you are unable to play on the server. sometimes this may just be the case of having to restart your router.

vpn means virtual private network

or in simpler terms, it allows you to encrypt/change your IP address, which allows you to bypass bans, etc...
