well i was playing MM on the map haunted mansion and my brother was the murderer. well when i was trying to get away from him by the elevator he went with and killed me on the elevator and i died. (normal right?) well after i died i went to the "ghost ship" but i wen tback to the game as a ghost and he couldnt kill me again or the players he killed in the elevator.

It seems to be that if you are killed in the elevator you come back as a ghost.

You can't kill ghosts because they're already dead. You can come back to the game and spectate but you can't actively engage in it because you already lost. It's like if you were playing a card game, and you lost, so you sit to the side and watch everyone else play. Also you're not allowed to speak so that you don't ruin the game for others. You can only speak once the game ends

It seems to be that if you are killed in the elevator you come back as a ghost.

In my mind I read this sarcastically at first but the more I read this sentence the more I get confused as to what you meant lol
