HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR BUILDS
Hey everyone, I just wanted to make a small thread about improving the visuals of your map. This is for people who have submitted a map but have been told it needs to have texture or visual work so it doesn’t look plain! (This thread is for amateurs or people who want to learn how to improve visuals)
In building it’s appearance, basically you’re making the map look realistic / cool to look at, firstly let’s look at ways you can fill in the empty gaps of a map so it doesn’t look flat and bland!
Firstly, Trees! Not only does using saplings and bonemeal look lazy, it also doesn’t look that appealing and makes your map look average and rushed. It doesn’t take that long to vastly improve the appearance of a tree.. and it can aslo look pretty cool! If you need help it doesn’t hurt to ask, maybe even google a tutorial!
Secondly, rock structures! If you’re map looks flat and bland adding rocks can look natural, if it doesn’t fit the theme they can be dirt or sand mounds, try to mix up the textures so it doesn’t look bland! You could add a large hill and decorate it with trees like above to add things to look at. Buttons can look like small stones or chunks of rock that have been broken off
Third and finally, the floor! Mixing up the floor or wall textures can look way more natural, since all grass isn’t the same colour like in Minecraft you can add wool, concrete or terracotta! I forgot to add that flowers can make your map look fresh and natural!
If natural builds aren’t your thing and your maps are more on the colourful side, here’s some things that could help! (Concrete and glass are optional since concrete very bright block and can stand out like a sore thumb when building walls and glass is almost transparent) I’ve added barrier blocks where the terracotta looked like a completely different colour and didn’t fit the texture. You can also texture trees as well!
Now interior designs, if you don’t know what to add in your house or cottage that you’re building I have a few ideas!
Bookshelves, add a few looms since they look like empty bookshelves! They can improve the look of a wall or just something to add in the corner!
Shelves, they can maybe lead to a ladder to the attic or just be for decoration, maybe add a flowerpot or two to make them look nice. Or they can be storage
- Pianos
- Oven/Kitchen Areas
- Custom beds, (instead of using Minecraft beds make your own!)
- Sofas/Couches/Sectional Sofas, you can add banners under the stairs to look like pillows
I highly recommend if you are 13+ to join reddit and look at r/Minecraft and go to the Tutorial section, They are so creative on there it’s unbelievable, also Grian on youtube. Anyway thank you for taking a look and remember that it’s okay to look at tutorials and Incorporate them into your build, as long as you don’t claim you made it! <3
Info -
Texture pack - invisible item frame, normal Minecraft texture pack.
Peace
