It’s probably a bug. It used to be possible to hit teammates with arrows.

It's unintentional. But it has something to do with how they coded teams in the first place. Though this is a somewhat rare occurrence, if you continously hit your teammate even with your bare fist, they won't get damaged, but instead experience the kb of said hits(me and my friends call it ghost kb uwu). Same thing happens when using snowballs, so it's safe to assume that these are indeed related to how projectiles can deal kb to your teammates.

...or it could just be mob cramming idk

when i used to not know who is my teamate cause i was dumb i would test eggs on random people and accidently murdered 4 of my teamates in seperate games lmfao
