My minecraft knowledge tells me that trident deals more damage than a diamond sword

Disclaimer: I am using Ipad.
So this is the story: I was using the wooden sword fighting a player with diamond axe. I noticed that our weapons’ damage different were way too big. Then I ran and found a trident in a mid chest. I fought that player again while she was at 40% hp and I was full. It could be a easy kill as she might ran out of food. But when both of us were trading hits, I realised her hp didn’t go down as much as I expected. Everytime I hit her with the trident, she took like 3/4% hp only. I knew I had a big troblue when I realised that. But it is too late, I died. It is even worse than a wooden sword wth.

Is the damage of the trident got nerfed or what? Or is it designed to be thrown only in brlns?

I assume thrown b/c I have noticed that too- I love when people come at me with the trident- easy kill!

Yeah because then tridents would be OP in SW in melee combat. When thrown they deal a lot of damage. It's a high power, one time use item. Although it doesn't do enough damage for it to be any good, so it's currently trash. It really needs a buff in terms of the when thrown damage!

it is pretty trash for me. I threw in to a guy that was sneaking. It did like little kb that didn’t knock him off.

I think a little buff on melee damage or thrown kb is better.

Again, it's not meant to be a melee weapon I'd say thrown damage instead. You could combo a player and hit them with trident for a kill, which is way better than a cheap void kill.

Well I was saying it at least should have some damage as it can be used for melee or projectile. I doubt ppl will use it just for the little buff on the thrown damage.
