I don't think the way that BrokenLens does updates is good for marketing purposes. the staff usually hype up a big update, and they say "it'll come in ____ it looks great so far! just be patient."
in my opinion I don't think that having it happen all at once in a big burst of energy is a good idea, because then the hype will die down easily. instead, having small updates every one or two months (i.e. new clothes, mounts, premium perks, etc) keeps people on their toes. as soon as they think they're getting bored, something new can hype them up again. maybe once every year in June or July, there can be a 'big update' where new games, game features, maps, etc can be introduced with more hype. I say June or July because that's when people are getting out of school, and more people are searching for new servers to play on. basically, it's one of the best times to release something big, especially since it's just summer holidays instead of something like Christmas or Halloween - people are less likely to be too busy spending time with family or celebrating something.
but I do think there still should be updates for holidays such as Christmas or Halloween, just not as big. maybe temp maps and/or game features and npc dress-ups (the pumpkins from halloween last year was cool, ngl).
marketing is hard. but this is what I believe will probably be the best way to help boost BrokenLens' popularity. however I can understand if the staff & build team are too busy for new updates every one/two months. they can release updates whenever, but, I think it should at least be somewhat consistent. even every 6 months or so is better than the random bursts we get now and again. consistency is key, it's what gets people to stay.
