Twelve strangers, twelve fates.
But they're all the same.
…
"So guess we're all random guys that got kidnapped here-" said Shive, "but for what?"
"So I remembered… um, Eyow said there's a robot or something?" Zabbyy seemed nervous in the crowds and was afraid of making mistakes on calling someone just met minutes ago in chaos.
"True thing, I think it'll appear again soon," Eyow looked around the ceiling and found an old radio hanging above them, "There." he pointed.
Everyone took a glance at it. The radio was hung in a strange way, as if it was hung by a small-sized person who was struggling to do so. The rope that supports the radio was loose, and the wire was merged into those messy ropes.
It wasn't until the radio started to make noise that everyone just stared at it into its core.
"Fellow players, welcome! Please now go outside of this room and- I, the greatest game-creator, will introduce to you guys a wonderful game!" the robotic sound in the radio said.
Chock. The announcement ended, and the heavy iron door was opened automatically. It was strange to have an electronic lock in such an old, rusty chamber, but everyone just hurried to get out of this nasty room.
The scene that came into their eyes was a church-like room, with several benches settled next to each other neatly. The stained glass however, had no light that went through. It was dim in the room while just a few candles brightening the room. In the middle-front of this room set yet another radio, this time with a better hanging skill.
"Thanks for your cooperation- and now I'm going to introduce myself, I am VOID, your greatest robot helper! And today- I'm going to let you guys play a game. Basically, it's an werewolf game- with skills. There will be citizens- while killers have to kill people. Every morning, new killers will be chosen. If the killer doesn't kill anyone before the day is over, the killer will be executed. But remember don't get caught if you're a killer- citizens can always call a meeting if needed, then vote someone out. So, let's get started."
On the table under the radio, twelve cards appeared.
"Now, everyone! Choose one." the robot said.
No one standed up. Everyone was glancing at each other and have no idea what to do- everything just happened too fast, and neither of them know why this game even exists.
"Go, or I'll punish you guys." it warned.
Finally there goes the first guy. Surprisingly, it was Foz that stood up.
"Well, I'm bored. So let's see what we got- here-" he took one of the cards and took a glimpse of it. "Fine, yet another wait-to-death." he folded the card casually, and put it into his left pocket.
And another one followed him. It was Nickle.
"You guys are cowards! Come on!" he quickly grabbed one of the cards and went back to where he sit, and dramatically took a quick glimpse of it.
"That's no good of you sayin' that, bro." Kota stood up from their seat, gently went to the table, and slowly took one of the cards away. They went back to their seat and said "Well, life is short and numbered, hehe." they laughed.
Shortly, all of them got their role, and non of them appeared to be nervous instead of Zabbyy. He was trembling so hard that the old bench continuously making crackle noise.
"Hey, why are you so nervous? There's nothing to afraid of, unless-" Shive stopped, staring into Zabbyy's eyes, "you're the killer."
"No… no! I'm not! I- I just get ner- nervous whenever I'm c- close to strangers…" there are tears in his eyes, "I just want to go home and keep drawing… I- I don't want to be here… I don't want to die… I-"
"STOP SAYING THAT." said Nickle, "Just be positive, everything's gonna be okay."
"What do you mean it'll be okay?" Kimmy yelled, "There will be people dying and all you said it's okay? You must not be the killer, or I'll choke you here right now!" She stood up, pointing at Nickle's nose.
"Hey, hey, don't fight." Yuxxa appeased, "The main topic is to figure out why we are here, and what is this game for."
"He got the point there, just ask that stupid radio thing should we?" said Zack.
Just right before they ask, the radio turned on and made a loud noise. "You guys are here for a reason, all of you guys do, and everyone's the same."
"That's non sense! We are all strangers, and non of us have things in common-" Icy replied, "And do they really die?"
"Yes, yes, ma'am. Of course they die, that's the main reason this game exists!"
Everyone went into silent.
People will die eventually. That's the conclusion they got. But what is the reason?
"Well, so we all die if the game has no ends?" Yuxxa asked.
"There is an end. You have to tell me why you are here." it replied.
"But it's you who took us here!"
"Oh dear, my dearest player, I'm just an AI. What can I do except for speaking here? I live in 0s and 1s."
And there was no reply. No one knew what made them here in this deadly game, and who exactly made them here.
Yet again, the room was silent.
"Well then, it seems you guys have no more questions! Lets hang out and recognize the whole playground- hehe-" the robot mocked.
Yew-
The big heavy wooden door opened, and everyone slowly went out, and everything's dark again.
Clok.
The door was closed again. Zabbyy stepped forward, and tried to push and pull the wooden door to make it open. No matter how much strength he put in, it was all in vain.
It's again, deadly closed.
"Come on fellow players, there's no return. Here, let's take a view of this building."
Upstairs there was a whole library.
After they saw through the whole building, they rested at the Lobby. There were plenty of chairs and sofas, and they seemed new and untouched. Without a doubt, Faz lied on one of the sofas and started snoring.
"I like this dude,"said Kota,"he just doesn't care about anything, including his life."
The sound of snoring even got louder.
In the Lobby, there was a huge fish tank with surprisingly, no fish in it at all. But the oxygen supplier was working, and also the light as well. The huge wooden table sitting in the middle of chairs and sofas had some scratches on it. There's also an old fashioned clock sitting right next to the fish tank.
Icy opened the curtain, and the sunshine splashed into the Lobby, making an absolute relaxing mood. "Never had thought a game like this would have this kind of mood."she thought. But what she would never think of, was the terrible murder that's coming.
It's ten o'clock in the morning now, and everyone's separated for their hobbies and interests. They've got a small meeting, and their conclusion was to send 2 people guarding the weapons, so that the killer can't enter easily. Since there are two bedrooms, one will be for males' while another will be for females'.
"Hey, Icy,"Eyow tapped on Icy's shoulder gently, "what are you looking at?"
Icy was standing next to the wide-opened curtain, staring outside."I wonder," said Icy, "why don't the shadows move?"
The shadow of the table and chairs stayed in the exact same place. An hour passed, and the shadows were still, she explained. She tried to open the window, but failed.
"Don't even try," Eyow said, "the planner theyselves must be smart enough to trap us here."
Icy sighed. "I miss my dog, I hope she's gonna be well if- if bad things happen to me." she turned inside to the Lobby, watching Faz dreaming. What's he dreaming? She thought.
"It's gonna be ok- I have my cats at home too, hope them won't destroy my house with their sharp claws."
"Ah, it's tough."
It's 12:30. Kitten was preparing lunch. She took several goodies from the enormous fridge, and made delicious sandwiches for everyone. "Guys! Guys! Lunch time!" Jason yelled all the way to the stairs, "our beautiful lady made us sandwiches! Come to lobby!!"
It didn't take them long for them to recruit. But soon they found out someone's missing. "Where is Kota?" said Zack.
"Wasn't he in storage? I saw him there like an hour ago." said Nickle, "I was guarding the weapons with Shive."
"True thing, he went back to storage and locked the door after he said hello to us."he confirmed.
"Did anyone see him out? I- I hope they're fine…" said Zabbyy, trembling.
"They'll be all fine, be positive guys." said Kitten, slicing cheese.
"Why not just go and find him? Nothing will change if we stay here." said Eyow.
They reached storage, but the door was locked. They knocked on the door, but there's no reply. They yelled their name, but there's no reply. Everything was dead silent there, except for their door breaking noise.
"Get out of the way!" Jason cried. He took a giant stone out from the fish tank, and smashed it on the door.
It was cracked.
"Yes! I made it!" He was happy about his incredible strength. He practiced kung fu and was strong enough to lift a fully-grown man up.
But sooner they went unhappy. In the locked storage remained a strange chemical smell, and it was cold inside. In the middle of the large room, a person was hung, dead. No surprise, it was the missing Kota. Some of the youngs were afraid and cried out loud, and no one wanted to touch the dead body.
"Kota…" Zach cried, "Why? Why!! There's nothing wrong… why would you choose to suicide…" they knelt down and cried. "Wait… you weren't suicide… WHO KILLED YOU?!"
Zach stood up and clasped Kota's cold arms, "WHO!!" they shook the dead body.
"Hey, I'm sorry but, you know Kota before?" said Shive.
"Oh yes, yes, my guy. They were my best friends that gave me a lot of support…"
They wiped their tears, "I'm sure he was killed, by someone."
"Wait," said Icy, "There's a note here- look-"
She took the paper away from the shelf. The words were written in a neat way.
"I was too scared to be the killer… so I killed myself. Sorry."
"Why on earth should Kota kill themselves?" Zach cried, "he was a brave man who faced everything! I swear I will kill the one who killed Kota, I gave my word!"
"But didn't they suicide? They hung and killed themselves, that's all?" Kitten said.
"It was quite a strange scene to see in my opinion, if Kota really killed themselves, why wouldn't the chair fall down? And what is this smell?" Icy gave out an interesting point of view, "I think Kota was killed by this gas."
"What the heck, ma'am? It's so impossible! They killed themselves, that's all!" said Kimmy.
It was no surprise that they split into to groups- one said Kota committed suicide, while others thought someone murdered them.
"Hey, look here." said Icy, "air vents, this may explain something." she pointed to the air vent behind a drawer.
The size of the air vent is wide enough to let a small-sized person crawl through. "Look, the screws were loosen."
"But it might because it's old?" said Jason.
"True, but look here."
Icy pointed to a corner of the iron bars. There was a small scratch that exposed the shiny iron. And the drawer beside it, also had a scratch that harmed the wood part of it. "Someone used lethal gas to kill Kota by crawling through the air vent. After Kota died, the killer faked their death to make it seem like they killed themselves." Icy explained.
"Wait, what…?" no one got the point.
"Okay, let me explain- but it's just a theory."
"First, the killer trapped Kota here somehow. The doors were locked on both sides so someone must have broken the electronic lock. The killer was outside of the storage, and crawled in through the air vent. Then, he or she must kill Kota via mixing bleach and bathroom cleaner- we can see if those in the bathroom was touched or not. The smell told me this was the gas that took away Kota's life."
"After that, the killer hung the body up and faked the death. See there? There's scratches on the door. Kota must experience hopelessness before death. Then, he or she crawled out, using string to pull the iron bars and the drawer back to their original place. That's all I got."
Everyone's stunned. The point that Icy gave was so accurate and possible. They reached the bathroom to check the cleaner and bleach, both of them were used.
"Well, so, she got it I guess." Faz appeared all of a sudden, "Weren't you sleeping?" asked Jason.
"Yea, but I got bored, so I listened. She's kinda right but there is a flaw. How could the killer break the lock?"
No one spoke. Kimmy ran back to the storage in a sudden, and everyone followed her back to the entrance of the storage.
"Since it's electronic devices- it may go wrong when applied with too much power?" Kimmy said.
She requested Jason to break the shell of the lock, and he broke it with ease.
"There we go," she took out the circuit board with a handkerchief, "it burnt out."
"How is it possible?" Kitten asked.
"Well then, this question should be asked by us- Kitten." Icy said.
"What… you meant that it was me who killed them? No way! I was preparing your lunch!"
"Well, give me your hands." Icy grasped Kitten's hands, and there were several cuts."The string cut your hand, didn't it?"
"No, no! I got cut by the knife… I said I was preparing lunch!"
"It's an impossible place to be cut with the knives while cooking, ma'am." Eyow said, staring at her wounds.
"No… I DIDN'T KILL THEM! I swear to god…"
"If you still want to defend yourself, look at this."
Icy took out a piece of clothing, and it matched Kitten's clothing. Icy stepped forward to Kitten's back, and showed everyone the missing part of her cloth. "I found it stuck to the iron bars on the vent. Is there anything you want to say?"
Everyone surrounded Kitten and made her enormously nervous. Suddenly, she started to cry.
"Yes… yes… it was me. I'm sorry to that guy but I have no choice, it worth a shot."
"So you killed a stranger just to make yourself alive? That's pity." said Faz.
"If I don't I'll get executed." she cried, "and killing was actually my job…, I'm not only a student but also do some assassination, this was one of my greatest methods to kill one."
"I admit it's a genius plan, Kitten. Who'd ever thought mixing bleach and cleaner can easily kill someone?" Icy said.
"Well, you made it. You're the genius one, Icy." she replied. "Radio! No, I meant… void! I'm ready to face my punishment, come."
And in no time, the radio turned on. "Hello fellow players! Do you all agree to vote player Kitten out?"
Everyone nodded.
"Great! Then go to the lobby and reach the door in the end of the hallway."
Kitten was crying all the way they got to the door, but Jason held her hand. "It's sad to see this but… hey, hope you got a new life after all of these."
"I know, I know…"
Tears dropped silently.
The door was widely opened. What they saw was big cats- a group of lions awaiting to have a nice meal under the platform they're standing on. "Now, player Kitten, are you ready to be executed?"
"I- I'm ready." she swallowed her saliva, and wiped her tears on her face.
"Step forward to the red platform, please."
She trembled as she walked towards it.
"I will miss you guys… sorry."
Clok. The platform started to tilt, until Kitten fell down.
And everything they heard was the beasts' roar and chewing.
"And now, I'll say that you guys made it right! She was the actual killer! Good job!"
No one's happy and of course, no one laughed. Two people have already died, who knows who's the next victim?
No one knows, and there will never be an answer.
"Okay, okay, I know you're kinda down… let's make a new round! Now, choose cards."
"No! People's really dying, how could you make us play this bloody game?" Kimmy cried.
"Oh girl, you don't really want to fight me, do you?" it laughed.
"You're such a psychopath…" she took one of the cards, and others followed her.
"And now… good luck!"
After that, the radio turned off.
And there was silence.
