Thank You For An Utterly Amazing Year!

Feb 22nd, 2016.

The exact date I joined forums.

One year ago, as I clicked on that "Sign Up" button, I never would have imagined all of the people I know and love today. Actually, I didn't even think I'd get to know more than 10 people but now, here I am, apart of a community of some of the best people I've ever met.

So, I'd just like to thank you all for, well, everything. No, I won't try to name everyone since that's impossible, but what I will do is list out everything I'm grateful for from you guys, whether the matter is big or small, it'll be somewhere here. Although, sorry if I forgot anything. I have really bad memory.

I may have said I wouldn't mention names, but this first one is a must.

@G-M-R Alexander , thank you for telling me to sign up on the forums. You were the one who showed me what BrokenLens' greatest aspect was, and I thank you for that, even though you aren't here anymore.

Thank you for the fun on the server. Also thank you Sara for creating ze HorriblePeople crew for meh ;w;

Thank you for all the amazing friendships and happiness.

Thank you for all the incredible and hilarious moments.

Thank you for bringing me out of the shell I had been living under for all my life, and shoving me out into the real, flawed but amazing world.

Thank you for the drama. It was tough to get through, maybe some people shed a few tears, but in the end, we all learnt a great lesson.

Thank you teaching me what I know now. Maybe some of it isn't the best stuff to learn, and some of it is pretty much useless, but I still appreciate that you'd take the time to tell me what it meant.

Thank you for sticking by me through thick and thin, even though I may have hurt you (and I'm sorry if I have) or unintentionally almost given you a heart attack, I'm grateful that you stood by my side and still called me an acquaintance, or even friend.

Thank you for showing me that there was more to music than I had been exposed to.

Thank you for motivating me each and everyday, no matter if it was a good or bad day.

Thank you for teaching me comedy.

Thank you for hearing me when I was silent.

Thank you for noticing me.

Thank you for accepting me as who I am and being my friend.

Thank you for inspiring me to be a better person.

Thank you for reading my horrible stories.

Thank you for helping me get through the tough stuff I had been shoved into.

Thank you for showing me kindness, honesty, courage and bravery, and love.

Just... thank you for everything.

Oh and finally...

Thank you for existing. I would've never had met you if you didn't exist, so thanks, for existing and all.

You're all a pretty rowdy bunch, and pretty weird too, but you're still effing hilarious and awesome.

Thanks for making the most of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 complete awesomeness for me.

If you haven't said "Hi" to me yet, or vice versa, I think it's time we get to know each other.

Well hi! I'm Lauren and I think you're going to be an amazing friend to have.

Thanks for reading this thread, even though it wasted around 1 or 2 minutes of your life.

P.S. There's a spoiler with a story included below. The story is about when I first joined the server. I think it'd be a good thank you gift to give y'all, since you guys seem to like my writing for some strange reason...

BrokenLens: A Child's Story

I awoke on a warm December morning. I live in an area where there are no seasons, so as I looked out my window, all I could see were the white, delicate clouds in the sky, dancing with one another. The Sun barely shone on my face, as I looked down towards the road. Not many cars. Just a few black and grey cars, twinkling in the light of the Sun.

I took my iPad and walked into the living room, where I saw my elder brother and sister sitting by the table and doing their own thing on their computers. My mom was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. She had left her iPad on the dining table, so I went to look what was currently on the screen while on my way to the kitchen. As always, Korean drama. I laughed inside at my mother's obsession with Korean dramas. But then again, I liked them as well.

Anyway, I set down my iPad on the dining table and went to check out what my mom was cooking up in the kitchen. French toast. It was rare that my mom didn't cook something delicious, but today, her French toast tasted quite... unlike the usual. Don't ask why or how I even knew before she served it. (Okay, so I may have stolen just a tiny little bit from one of the already finished French toasts, but still, I was hungry!)

I took my iPad and jumped onto the couch in a way that I would land laying down. I sat upright and turned on my iPad. I had downloaded MCPE the other day. My dad had bought it for me as a Christmas present. I didn't really like playing in single player mode, so I downloaded a MCPE server list app. As soon as it finished downloading, I opened it up and scrolled through the top ten servers. One of them caught my eye.

It had a very peculiar name - BrokenLens. I suppose its name was one of the reasons so many players had chosen to play on it. It was a strange name, and it attracted me to it. I noted the server IP and port in my head, and went back to MCPE.

I clicked play. I was still rather new to this game, and I had only seen people play the PC version of it. I clicked "Add new world", then clicked the button which allowed me to add servers. I entered the IP and port, and entered BrokenLens as its name.

It loaded, then I clicked on it. I was brought into a world where I could see players running around, and NPCs on stands with names above their head. I viewed the chat. I registered my account, while silently reading everything said in the chat. It was mostly role-players. 'Is this a roleplay server?' I thought. I walked up to an NPC with a name that had caught my attention.

One In The Chamber

I checked the chat once more, and I could see it was telling me to join a server with a different port to play the minigame. As this was what I thought to be a new server (I am not sure why I thought so, I just did), I understood they needed time to be able to make it so that once you click the NPC you immediately enter a game. Plus, this was 0.13.x. There wasn't much you could do back then.

I exited this server. It seemed to be a hub. I added the new server, and joined. The first thing I saw was a sort of statue. I looked around, and realised I was on an island. I walked towards the boards which were stationed next to and behind the "statue". Two of them, the ones beside the statue, were information boards. The one behind the statue had the leaderboard and signs which I clicked on, after reviewing the leaderboard. I was teleported to a waiting room. It was rather small, and it was on an island high up in the sky. There were other players there, running around, or standing still as they entered something into the chat.

I admired their skins. I was only wearing the free Alex skin from the Holiday pack. Other than that, I also focused a bit on the chat. I read through what everyone was saying. I noticed a number beside their names. I figured it to be their level. I didn't dare say anything in the chat. I didn't want to embarrass myself, and I was only a shy, 9 year old girl at the time.

Welp, since everyone else said "happy one year anniversary"
Happy BrokenLens birthday! :D

Thank you for the fun on the server. Also thank you Sara for creating ze HorriblePeople crew for meh ;w;
