It's only happened to me a few times...
The way I got it was I was lagging and I was spamming the chest trying to open it xD
It opened but then automatically closed the second it did open.
When it closed I no longer had my hotbar or anything else. Only my controls and chat, which is quite bothersome.

It is a normal Bug that happens on multiple Servers. Exit the Minecraft interface but do not quit the APP if you go back to the interface back to normal.

but doesnt work for ios? my friends use samsung tablets, they can continue the game without getting disconnected even they exit the minecraft interface, but for me using ipad, it will just disconnected
