Every now and again i voulenteer at an animal shelter, and this day there was an emergency that required all vets on hand and i was left to man the shelter by myself.

Man: *Sprints in carrying an obviously distressed dog* Excuse me, are you open?

Me: Yes, sir we are. what seems to be the problem?

Man: This poor dog was hit by a car!

(I am sitting at the front desk, with a large bench infront of me.)
Me: Oh, no. Sir, please place the dog on the desk infront of me. By the way, are you his owner?

(He does as i ask)
Man: No, i just saw him go under a car. Hey, you look young to work here.

Me: Yes, sir i am. I voulenteer here, i am actually underage.

(His eyes widen with alarm, and i see his hands start to move upwards and i gently slide the dog out of his reach as he goes to grab him)

Him: Hey, you shouldn't be handling this animal, you're not qualified! This is outragous, give me my dog back you dumb b**** or i will sue, or get a real vet here!

Me: Sir, i am perfectly qualified to keep this animal in a stable condition until a real vet arrives, because they are all out on an emergency, and earlier you told me this is not your animal, so i will be holding onto him until the vets come back.

(I start sliding my hands around the dog, and the only major injury i can find is a broken leg, then i check it's gums)

Man: You f****** idiot! You have no idea what you're doing, you are just doing that for show! you're gonna kill it!

Me: Sir, this f****** idiot has figured out that the dog has a broken leg, and hasn't lost very much blood, i felt its entire body and nothing else seems to be wrong, and i can tell it hasn't lost much blood because the color of it's gums are healthy, now either leave so i can help him or stay here and shut up, before you scare him even more.

(The man went deathly pale, and stayed where he was, and i gave the dog pain-killers as that was the only thing i was able to do without one of the vets there, the vets got back, realigned its leg and the dog healed perfectly, the dog had a microchip we could scan and we gave the poor thing back to it's owners.)

"You aren't qualified! You'll kill the dog!" For... touching it .-. I wouldn't really blame him if you were to try to deal with the leg yourself, but that reaction to feeling for a broken leg, checking for blood loss, and giving pain killers is WAY too extreme.
