When I was 11, I received my very first tablet of my own. I'll admit, I was excited as heck, because I was the first out of all my friends to receive my own electronic device. Of course, Hailey, my best friend, had a hand-me-down iPhone from her Mom, but that was a hand-me-down. Mine was brand new, straight from the store. However, that wasn't the only reason. Another reason was that I was getting something to retreat to whenever I was bored, tired, stressed out and the likes. And I know, human companionship would feel much better, but a tablet was still cool.

As I grew, I begin to get more games. Every year, I'd treat myself to two new games my friends would recommend. These were games they all saw online while borrowing an elder sibling or parent's device. On my 13th birthday, my friend Faith told me of a game called ‘Minecraft’. I asked my Mom if I could purchase it, since it required money. My Mom said sure, since it was my birthday. I got it, and played it for a while with some friends I had invited over for a birthday party.

Let me just say, it was definitely the most fun game out of all the five games I'd gotten so far. But, to be honest, I wasn't that surprised really. I mean, the other four games I had gotten were free, so of course they weren't as good as a game which required money to buy. Still though, this game, Minecraft, was enchanting and amazing. I was so happy to have gotten it.

As the days went by, I started playing on my tablet less, as my studies had become harder. Maths barely made any sense, Science was absolute torture, and Spanish was just plain hard. By the way, I'm homeschooled. I learn these things because my Dad has this belief that "you learn things not so you can get a job, but so you can expand your mind". (And I thought you got to choose what you learn when you're homeschooled...) But, I managed to pull through. Oh, and I forgot to mention, I still went to my book club, which was held weekly.

Man, is it hard to balance all that in one week, and then to repeat the process again and again.

As December came, and Winter settled in, my parents gave me a month off my studies—which also meant I was free to play on my tablet! I started playing Minecraft a lot, and I would experiment with all the things available in my creative sp (single-player) worlds, while I'd explore the whole world in my survival sp worlds.

But, playing alone wasn't much fun. I checked the Internet for some Minecraft servers I could play on. As I scrolled through the abundance of servers, looking at what they offered, one single server caught my eye.

It offered Hide and Seek, Sky Wars, Hunger Games, and so much more! I got a pen and paper and jotted down the IP address and port, where I could find all the IPs and ports for all the games. I went back to Minecraft and added the server. I was still relatively new to how Minecraft worked, but it was simple. Just like in single-player, I just had to click on it and wait as it loaded the terrain.

I was hyped to be able to play with people—and meet new friends, too! Then, as I got on, I realized something—I'd never bothered to make myself a username. I only noticed this when the chat asked me to enter "my" password to login. Huh, someone actually registered the name Steve.

I left the server, and went to the settings. I deleted the automatically set username, and started brainstorming. What should I use as a username? I thought of my real name—Lydia. Then I thought of my favourite things.

I got it! My new username would be "_LyLovesSprite_", the underscores just a design. Uncreative? I know, but I'm not a creative person, okay? Besides, I really do love Sprite. I think it's the best drink ever made, haha.

Anyway, I entered _LyLovesSprite_ as my username, and went back to their server. I registered using a relatively good password (it had capitals, small letters, numbers and punctuation. That makes a good password, or so I've been told) and began my adventure in this server.

I marched up to the NPC with the name, “Hide And Seek”, over it, wondering what would happen. The IP and port to a server appeared in the chat, accompanied by some words which informed me that that was the IP and port for Hide and Seek. I grabbed my pen and paper and wrote that down, before leaving and adding the server.

“This system is complicated, I hope I'm not doing this for nothing...” I said to myself, as I waited for the terrain to load.

As I spawned it, I looked around. The place was definitely very nicely built, and the ‘modern art’ (that made me laugh so hard) in the center of it all was pretty well designed as well.

I tapped on a sign I spotted which said, “enter a game”. I got teleported to a small room, what's I assumed to be the waiting room. There was a timer which replaced the xp bar above my hotbar. It said “52s”.

52 seconds to look around this small and cramped little compartment. Well, there wasn't much to look at, really. Just the floor pattern (which wasn't very much), and people's skins. And the chat, if reading people's conversations starting from a random point is fun.

I walked up to one of the glass walls which made this lil’ place an actual room, instead of an island in the sky with just a small floor and ceiling, held up by pillars, above it. I stared out, at the blue sky, dotted with clouds as white as my friend, Judy's, complexion. Seriously, she was as pale as a fricking vampire.

I looked down, and saw what I assumed was going to be the map I was going to be playing on. Damn, these people are generous.

“15 seconds! Pick up your block!” the chat said. I chose the wooden plank. A few people were choosing the gold block... only to uncraft (is that the correct term?) it and choose the gold bar.

‘Why?’ I thought. ‘Isn't the gold block and gold bar the same thing?’

As I discovered, it wasn't. The gold bar turned you into water, making you invincible to Seekers. Wow. I decided that that was probably a glitch, which means those people were definitely glitch exploiting. But, where could I report them?

I finished the round as a Hider (I had an amazing hiding spot, I tell ya. Amazing), along with 7 others. As I respawned at the original island, I noticed a sign which said, ‘visit our forum at www.brokenlens.xyz!’ I decided to check the forum out, since I could probably report people there. I played a few more games before I left of course, this server was addicting.

I entered the address into the search bar and waited. My utterly crap wifi took a long time before it loaded the page. There were two buttons:
One said, ‘Go to forums’.
The next said, ‘How To Play’.

I clicked ‘Go to forums’ and waited, while my crappy wifi did its job and loaded the page. As the page finished loading, I looked around for the Hack Reports section. It was simply really, just needed to scroll down. I clicked on that section and let it load.

As it finished, I saw a few threads, filled with reports of hackers. I checked them, and confirmed that I needed proof that those players were glitch exploiting. I supposed a simple screenshot of them as a water block or whatever would suffice.

I went back to the server, my chat immediately getting filled with people talking or roleplaying. I entered a game and ran around the waiting room. There was a moment when I saw a guy with a pretty cool skin—I think his name was mikedabs2k. I thought about saying “hi” in the chat, but changed my mind because of the timer which read, “27s”.

‘15 seconds! Pick up your block!’ There was the thing I was waiting for. Pumpkin. I saw one or two peeps picking lapis and uncrafting it. I wonder what they would be? I thought, just as I was spawned in the map. I looked around—it was a map of a village covered in snow. How ironic.

I turned around and ran into the building which was behind me. I stood a top a log block—to make the room I was in look identical with the last room I past just now. I also had a good view of the seeker's spawn, and who'd kill them now.

The two seekers spawned in, and are almost immediately killed... but by who? I don't see anyone. Wait, there. In the snow. It blended so perfectly.

It was a piece of string. Just my luck, if I took a screenshot of that, you'd probably need to strain your eyes to see. Then I realised something else—how could I get their username?
