I'm bored so here are some facts about the Dutch. Maybe you know some already but I Think you don't know all off them so here is a part one if you want more facts just tell me.
1. The Wilhelmus ( the Dutch national anthem) is the oldest national anthem is the WORLD.
2. The Dutch were th first in the world to legalize gay marriage. It has been legal since 2001.
3. The Dutch are the tallest in the world.
4. The Netherlands has the highest English-proficiency in the world. ( Some nine in 10 Dutch people speak English as second language.
5. The Dutch made an entire province from land reclaimed from the sea. ( the province is called Flevoland.
6. The Netherlands is the lowest country in Europe.
7. In the Netherlands we have more bikes than people
8. The Netherlands is the safest place for cycling
9. The Dutch eat the most liquorice in the world. 32 million kilos are consumed each year . ( personally I love liquorice)
10. The Dutch introduced orange carrots to the world.
11. CDs DVDs and Blu-Ray were invented in the Netherlands.
12. The first multinational company, stocks and stock exchange were Dutch.
13. 70% of the worlds bacon come from the Netherlands.
14. In Dutch we have two official languages Dutch and Frisian/Fryslân.
15. KLM, the Dutch national airline is the oldest national airline in the world.
16. The Dutch city Rotterdam has the largest seaport of Europe.
17. The microscope was invented in the Netherlands by the Dutch man Anthonie van Leeuwenhoek.
18. When Dutch schoolchildren pass their exams, both a Dutch flag and a school back is hung outside their homes.
19. New York was founded by the Dutch and first called New Amsterdam.
20. Australia and New Zealand were discovers by the Dutch. Australia was named New Holland ( after a Dutch province) and New Zealand was named after the Dutch province of Zeeland.
21. A popular Dutch snack is raw herrings topped with onions ( I know it sounds terrible but if you are in the Netherlands you have to try it personally I love it but yeah I'm Dutch so )
22. Netherlands is the world biggest exporter of cheese.
23. The Netherlands was one of the 6 founding members of the EU.
24. The Netherlands is the healthiest country in the world for diet.
25. For people that didn't know HOLLAND IS NOT THE SAME AS THE NETHERLANDS. Holland is 2 of the 12 province of the Netherlands.
