[TE="Shive2002410, post: 239038, member: 17084"]Hey guys, so as all of you might know, in the United States, a solar eclipse will happen on Monday, August 21, 2017. It has been dubbed as, "Great American Eclipse 2017" because it is the first time in 99 years that a Coast to Coast Eclipse has happened. Here, I will talk about the guidelines, safety precautions, and information about this years, solar eclipse.

Information:
1. This eclipse will be available to see in the United States, and maybe some parts in the Carribean. The "path of totality" (where you will be able to see a total solar eclipse) passes through 14 states, starting in Oregon, and ending in South Carolina. However, all the 50 states will be able to see this eclipse. However, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina will be able to see the total solar eclipse. The rest of the states will see only a Partial.
2. You could also see this eclipse in some parts of Europe like Spain, France, and UK and England. You could also see it in the Northwestern tip of Africa. But it's only a partial.
3. The next Coast to Coast eclipse will be in 2045!
4. There is a solar eclipse coming in 2024 but it's only in some states. It concerns the Northeastern parts of the US.

For more info, please visit the website: Timeanddate.com
NASA will live stream the solar eclipse on YouTube. Double check to makes sure if its safe to watch. If you are unable to watch the eclipse in real life, NASA will have a video of the eclipse.

Safety:

1. To stay safe during a solar eclipse, You must wear special glasses that must be confirmed to be deemed safe.
2. Be careful! Online, they are selling counterfeit glasses! These are not good for your eyes, as they may cause blindness in the future. Make sure they are confirmed official before ordering or usage.
3. Do NOT look at the eclipse without safety glasses! This could damage your eye, and may cause blindness in the future!

4. Homemade filters and sunglasses are not safe to use during a solar eclipse.
5. Do NOT record the solar eclipse with a camera, phone, telescope, etc. without the proper materials to do so.

6. Animals might act a bit strange during the eclipse. Pets may sleep as the temperature will drop a few degrees and the sky will turn dark.
7. Don't Panic! Always have a trusted supervisor with you.

What to Expect:

1. Expect animals to act weird, like your pets. They might go to sleep.
2. The sky will turn dark and the temperature will drop a few degrees.
3. Total eclipses last shorter than a partial eclipse. Total eclipses last about 2-3 minutes while the partial eclipses might last longer.

Have fun!
Remember to wear your safety glasses to watch the solar eclipse!
I'm excited for it!

Hey guys, Im Bringing back this thread only for today.

Today is the day for the Solar Eclipse. Channels like GoodMorningAmerica will quote "be there all the way" for the solar eclipse.

Remember to wear Specialized official glasses in order to see the solar eclipse! If you don't, it will cause blindness in the near future, since your retina does NOT have pain receptors.

If you are unable to see the eclipse from your location, NASA will live stream it on YouTube and their website.

Please look back for more information on the thread for safety, guidelines, and Information.

Have fun and Be Safe!
