Before anybody starts lecturing me, this isn't anything against the Brokenlens staff. I understand that you're doing your best to get rid of the hackers, but there are just so many of them. That's what's I'm talking about: the depressingly high number of hackers I notice. This is just sort of a thread about my thoughts on it, and if this is the wrong place, I'm sorry. I just need to rant.
Why, why, do they hack? What joy is there in it? In TagHunters, for example, there was a player with full diamond Armour and an enchanted diamond sword that set people on fire (I did report him). He was getting one-hit kills and nobody else could even get near him to attack.
What I'm trying to figure out is... why? What satisfaction is there in this? There are players who are amazing PVPers (that's a word, right?) and they win games because of their skill. They have to attack and hope that the other player doesn't get in enough hits; they sometimes get killed, and they keep coming back to try again (or go into a new game if it's one where you don't respawn). When they win, they've worked for it and earned it.
Then there are these guys. They can't handle being beaten. They don't want you getting hits in, so they just make sure that it's impossible for you to - but instead of trying to avoid hits, running around so you can't keep track of them, using actual strategies and skill... they just do this?
I'll admit I cheat at some things. Sorry, for example - I sometimes push my pawns forward a bit, and put them back if I'm caught. But this blatant "I DON'T GIVE A [insert swear word of your choice here]" hacking... I just don't get it! For me, something like that Sorry example is more of seeing if I can get away with it than trying to win.
And there are so many people who do this! Why?! And then the ones that support it!
Back to the TagHunters example (this is one of the main BL games I play). There is a regular TagHunters player, KRONNO-something like that, that I have always respected - almost looked up to. He is amazing at TH, and I've never noticed him hacking. Yet when this diamond-Armour-enchanted-sword guy was on, KRONNO asked him to join his team! I happened to be on that team and switched to another immediately. After a while though, I just left. Nobody likes losing, but this was just INFURIATING!
Anyway, I'm sorry for this long rant, but I needed to vent. And my iPad is at 3% so I'm ending here.
If you have any thoughts on hackers and why they do this, I want to hear them.
