Revised version of The Decision
The Introduction
General Fox was resting in his command chair, monitoring the controllers who were reading screens, pulling levers, and pushing buttons. Suddenly, a buzzer rang from the radar station. Everyone in the command center directed their attention at the radar station, then to General Fox, waiting for instructions.
“What is it?” General Fox demanded.
“A large amount of unidentified ships have emerged out of dark-speed at quadrant B-11. They are not responding to the passcode,” the controller stated.
There was some muffled whispering in the command center, then General Fox rose from his chair and strode to the radar station. He got in the seat and studied the screen for a moment. Then, he got in the chair at the camera station and accessed the camera at quadrant B-11.
Numerous alien ships, in their usual organized formation, were popping up.
“Soldiers, it appears that there is an assault targeted on us by the aliens. Move B6-GTs to Sect-” another buzzer from the radar station cut him off.
“More ships are emerging at quadrant Y-03, general,” the same controller said.
Suddenly, dozens of buzzers were ringing at the radar stations.
“They’re coming at us from all sides, what do we do?” a controller complained.
“Uh oh,” a controller murmured.
The general went back to his command center, sat down in it, and thought.
This command center controlled a giant fortress that is situated on an island, named F-16 Island due to its location. It has a large tunnel which leads to the underwater cities that make up the Red Republic. Many, smaller tunnels lead to the cities from the mainland, but F-16 island is a key defence location. If it were to fall, then enemies would use the tunnel to destroy the cities, including the capitol.
As you can see, General Fox’s job is very important in this situation. If he and his forces were to retreat into the tunnel, then the aliens would take F-16 island and launch attacks from there. There would be a large amount of casualties if this happened. The Tunnel would be devastated.
But, if he and and his troops stayed and fought, they would be a small chance of winning, but with a large amount of deaths. General Fox pondered the dilemma. All eyes were on him.
“Okay, we are staying and fighting. Mobilize troops at the coast line, and keep tanks, walkers, and other similar vehicles with them. Position troops on the inside, since they can send paratroopers. Use the ruins as temporary bases if necessary.” General Fox finally said.
A controller ran to a red button and pressed it. An alarm sounded and the General and the controllers heard commotion outside, hearing officers giving subcommands to soldiers, and other alien allies running to their fighters to pilot them. Battle robots rushed outside, and medical robots went to infarmys to take care of the wounded. Walker pilots ran to hangars to get into their walkers and then walk to their battle positions. Ground crew members led starfighters with light sticks as they flew out of the hangar to battle the oncoming threat.
He continued. “Move commando group Rex to Outpost Fox. Sector J-02 forces will surround the forest if paratroopers land there.”
General Fox’s long line of commands continued. Controllers were typing, contacting, and listening for more orders.
After those orders, General Fox’s last command was “And, contact any allies in the area, the Spike Republic, the navy, other starships, or any that can help out.”
And with that, he suited up, and dashed out the door to help out his soldiers on the battlefield.
Chapter 1: The Invisible Raiders
Already, the battle had sprung off to a good start. Heavily-armed troops and armored B6-GTs were holding off the Alien forces as their ships dropped off dozens upon dozens of walkers on them. General Fox got into his dinky LAV and drove off to the temporary subcommand center in one of the ruins of a Green Republic dreadnought. As he drove past the ruins of gigantic ships, he saw the fighting. Some Green Republic snipers were picking off Alien soldiers from a crashed Red Republic cruiser. An B6-GT was holding its own against a horde of Aliens, its machine guns taking down many as it fell to the ground, defeated.
Suddenly, an Alien corvette crashed in front of him. Debris flew into the air as General Fox was barely able to stop his LAV from crashing into the burning wreak. The battle in the skies had kicked off. Many Red Republic, Green Republic, Pcpc, and Giant ships had appeared in the sky and started creaming Alien ships that came too close to the island. A looming shadow appeared over General Fox, and was not surprised to see the Conqueror, his master’s Dominator-class Dreadnought. About 16 kilometers in length, it dwarfed Alien ships in front of it. An influx of command ships came out of the Conqueror's hangars, and started helping out the gigantic dreadnought take down other ships around it.
Meanwhile, General Fox drove into the hangar of the Green Republic dreadnought that had the subcommand center. He drove through hallways and repair stations, walkers sitting where they would never be tended to. Crashed starfighters that had pierced through the roof, joining the tanks and walkers alike in a vehicle storage area, which the LAV drove by, the sounds of battle muffled by the steel that separated the relatively peaceful atmosphere of the dreadnought from the chaos outside. As the LAV got closer to the command center, the Dreadnought looked less and less empty. In an old replair station, a B6-GT was being worked on, and guards roamed about. He arrived at a checkpoint, where he showed a Red Republic soldier his card. Green Republic soldiers tested in barracks and robots were salvaging parts of a cruiser that had was lying in a hangar area as General Fox’s LAV drove into another hallway.
Fox finally arrived at the subcommand center at a destroyed Green Republic dreadnought. Another general, General Banura was accessing some radar stations.
“General Fox. Good to see you.” he said. “Their forces are humongous. Are you sure we can hold out?” General Banura continued.
“With some help, we can hold on to the island.” General Fox replied. “Otherwise, they’ll destroy us from the inside.”
“I better go help those troops.” General Fox said.
“I’ll go with you. As they say, the more, the merrier.” General Bacura replied
The two generals were long time friends. Back when they were only lieutenants, they were tasked with taking care of rebels in the Offensive in the Oparra Territory, they quickly teamed up to snuff out the threat. As they rose through the ranks of the Red Republic, they’re friendship got closer, and they often helped each other out. The Master quickly saw the two as extraordinary generals, and rose them to the rank of general. Both often fought by each-other’s side, winning battle after battle. Even when it seemed hopeless, being a strategist, General Bacura could always think of something with Fox’s help.
Fox and Bacura both got into their LAVs and drove off to the front line exiting the hagar with gunships and troop carriers following. Two dozen Mark II Mega Raptors were providing artillery fire, and B4-GTs blasted away at Alien Walkers. Some patrol robots were firing away at Alien Heavys, and regular troops emptied their energy cartridges at the Aliens, who’s numbers never seemed to go down. Tents with medical robots and medics were caring to the wounded. Green Republic Snipers were taking advantage of several crashed Alien fighters and were taking cover behind them. All forces that had answered General Fox’s call to action had been summoned. The Green Republic coming from the North, the Pcpcs from the west, the Spike Republic and empires from the east, and even the sentient dragon species, Kidons, had come from the south along with other animals. They tore apart Alien soldiers with their teeth, and numerous mosasaur species brought down ALien ships that stayed too near to the surface of the water.
General Fox leaped out of his LAV and blasted away at the Aliens. One brave soldier attempted to punch him, but General Fox whacked it with his gun. He pinned it to the ground and shot it in the head. General Bacura joined him with a minigun. Behind them, some TLAVs brought in reinforcements. A volley of rockets from a rocket walker destroyed several Alien walkers. An Alien punched a rifle out of a soldier’s hands, but he took out a pistol and shot the ALien in the face.
As General Fox and General Bacura held the line, Commander Coyote contacted them.
As an unconventional commander, Coyote was one to be feared. His corps fought on the roughest, most harshest terrain ever seen by the Aquanonians, and viewed the other corps as inferior. As such, they’re armor was somewhat more advanced for fighting in the weirdest worlds where other troops would suffer. To add onto Commander Coyote’s achievements, his legion had completed many “impossible” missions, which has led to fame among the Red Republic Armed Forces.
“General Fox. General Bacura. Me and my shadow troops need help in the forests. There are just way too many Aliens.” Coyote said over the intercom. He sounded worried.
“Okay. We’ll be there, and I’ll send some of my experimental robots.” General Fox replied.
As the generals got back into their LAVs, General Bacura told General Fox, “Well, that was unusual. TOugh COmmander Coyote asking for help. YOu don't see everyday.” He then asked “what about those experimental robots of yours too?”. “I figured Coyote was in serious trouble, so we should get the best of my creations. You’ll see, in time.” General Fox replied.
By the time they got back to base, the sky was full of ships, blasting away at each other. The two generals headed down a hidden stairwell to find a workshop, filled with weird, wolflike, robots. There was also a freighter being worked on by a robot.
“Greetings General Fox. And I assume this is the other general, Bacura?” the robot said.
“Yes, I am General Bacura. What is this place?” Bacura asked.
“This is my workshop, and this guy here is Pebbles. He helps me repair and make creations that could turn the tide of the war.” General Fox said.
One of the wolf-like robots went up to Commander Fox, and rubbed itself against his calf.
“These robots here are equipped with cloaking devices.” Commander Fox said as the robot suddenly disappeared. “There are also some modified B6-CTs equipped with better armament and cloaking devices in those garages.” Commander Fox continued.
An explosion rocked the base. “We should be headed on our way” General Bacura said. They hopped into the B6-CTs as Pebbles returned to working on the freighter. The robots followed the walkers to a large elevator, which got them to ground level. The cloaking devices were activated, and the generals, their elite troops on the walkers, and the robots were well on their way.
General Bacura received a hologram from Commander Coyote. “Where are you? We don’t see you. If you don’t come soon with reinforcements, we might be wiped out!” he literally shouted.
“Calm down. I assure you, we are here and waiting for the enemy’s next wave.” General Bacura said
“Let me guess. You have cloaking devices.” Commander Coyote replied.
“More than that, Coyote.” General Fox butted in.
From his well-designed treehouse/fort, Commander Coyote and some of his troops heard a yelp. They saw an Alien soldier get tackled, but there was nothing tackling the soldier. Whatever was there ripped the Alien soldier apart like cloth. More yelps arose around the forest. Other Alien soldiers ran to their comarades’s aid, but to no avail. They also got attacked b these invisible forces. Then, a strange sound, almost like a wolf howling broke the air.
“What the hell is going on?” one of his sergeants said.
“I think that’s our rescue. Troops, down from the trees and ambush the Aliens!” Commander Coyote yelled.
“For Aquanonia!” his troops replied as they jumped down from their sniping places, well hidden in the dense foliage of the trees.
An Alien walker bore down on the troops. Suddenly, a B4-CT appeared out of nowhere are rammed the walker into a tree. A hangar on the AT-CT opened up, and General Fox’s troops emerged to join the battle. Another B4-CT, General Bacura’s decloaked, deployed troops, and laid down mines.
Some of Commander Coyote’s snipers stayed in the trees, taking down aliens one by one. The Aliens could not cope with the guerrilla tactics Commander Coyote used, and could not fight against the robots, cloaked and ready to destroy another alien. They retreated, and victory was theirs.
They all headed up to the tree forts and rested. Commander Coyote and the generals discussed battle plans.
“They will come back, stronger than before.” General Bacura said to the others.
“My robots can hold those Alien bastards for a while, but not for too long. It may be enough time to evacuate.” General Fox offered.
“Are you saying that we should retreat? My troops will stay and take them down. They will do whatever it takes to achieve victory in our hands.” Coyote replied
“And throw the troopers something that may be too much for them? If we are to hold our ground, here, then we need a lot more soldiers, and vehicles, for sure.” General Fox said, as one of his robots jumped into the treehouse and promptly fell asleep in General Fox’s lap.
Suddenly, a controller ran into the room, out of breath saying, “Sorry to interrupt, but a corvette crashed nearby.”
“So? Tons of corvettes are crashing at this moment.” Commander Coyote replied.
“That corvette is the crew of Dragon Squad.” the controller said “They are being surrounded by enemy troops.” he continued.
General Bacura whistled.
Dragon Squad was specifically picked by The Master to be a special operations team. They did everything, from sabotaging enemy lines, to taking down the enemy on the front line. But they lacked numbers, and they would be slaughtered in the forest if they didn’t get help, and soon.
“Okay. We are going and helping them. Dragon Squad’s skills and soldiers are valuable to the Red Republic, and we will not let them die or be captured by the ALiens to be used in experiments.” General Fox stated.
“Woah woah woah. My troops are exhausted, so if you’re doing some saving, then it’s you and your robots.” Commander Coyote said
“I’ll come and help.” General Bacura said.
General Fox glared at Commander Coyote.
“Okay. All I care about is my troops. They need this rest. To add on, another wave of Aliens is coming, so it is especially important that they get this rest.” Commander Coyote said.
“Okay, I do see your point.” General Fox said.
The two generals exited the room.
The two generals hopped into their B6-CTs, as well as some of their troops. They activated their cloaking devices. The robots followed them.
Up ahead, they saw an Alien walker. It had no idea what was coming. General Fox piloted the B6-CT right at the walker and rammed it into another. Supposedly, General Bacara and the robots would make a run for the corvette while the rest of the Aliens were distracted by General Fox. The B6-CT, still cloaked, stomped on Aliens, shot at walkers, and made the distraction Bacura needed. Right then, he contacted General Fox, saying that they got to the corvette. Now, it was General Fox’s turn to make the run to the corvette, just that all the Aliens would be focused on him.
Unfortunately, a few Alien walkers were blocking his way. He shot at the base of a nearby tree, and it toppled over, crushing the walkers. He jumped over the walkers, and was about to make it, when an Alien walker rammed him into another tree. General Fox’s B6-CT got up but the ram had damaged the cloaking device. He quickly disposed of the walker, smashing it’s cockpit with the B6-CT’s leg. He ran once again. Suddenly, the corvette’s hangar appeared in front of him, and he crashed into General Bacura’s B6-CT, which was parked inside.
He and his troops got out of the B6-CT, and started to hold off Aliens invading the hangar, along with General Bacura, his troops, the robots, and the elite team who belonged to the corvette, Dragon Squad.
“Commander Dragon. Nice to meet you.” General Fox said.
“Good to meet you,” Commander Dragon replied.
An explosion rung in the hangar. “Want to join the battle?” Commander Dragon asked.
“Sure!” the generals replied.
Suddenly, a whole bunch of B6-HAWs emerged out of the trees, accompanied by B6-CTs, and opened fire on the aliens.
“What? I thought Commander Coyote left us!” General Bacura exclaimed. Sure enough, those walkers had Commander Coyote’s symbols on them. The Generals and Dragon Squad charged at the infantry, the generals killing any Alien that stood in their way.
As they ran, General Fox glimpsed an Alien command center. He jumped in, kicked an Alien in the face, and shot another in the head. The Alien commander turned around with a gun to his head. But the commander was ready. He ducked and kicked General Fox in the shins. He got his gun and prepared to shoot General Fox. But he was also ready. He narrowly dodged the shot, punched the commander in the face, and whacked him with his gun multiple times. The commander fought back with several punches. General Fox doged them and started choking the helpless commander. The Alien controllers, working at the commands while the commander and General Fox were fighting, realized what was happening. One grabbed a gun, but General Fox shot it out of the controller’s hands, whacking the other in the face. He kicked the controller out the window and shot the other in the head.
General fox threw the commander out the hatch as he emerged. All eyes were on him as he shot the commander in the head.
There was a great silence over the battlefield as General Fox’s gun smoked.
Then the battle resumed as the others approached him, now joined by Commander Coyote. General Bacura sliced off the commander’s head off with his katana, for good measure.
A new B5-HAW appeared and ended the battle, crushing unlucky Alien walkers under its giant legs.
They took a Mark IV Tank back to the base. Commander Coyote stayed at the battlefield while 4 dropships hauled Dragon Squad’s corvette back to the base for repairs. The two generals thought they had enough ground fighting for the day. THey hopped into two Viper-fighters that were ready for them, and took off.
Chapter 2: The One-Man Raid
“Okay, what’s the situation?” General Fox asked General Banura on the comms.
“So Green Republic, Spike Republic, and other countries have come to our aid and have sent forces. Our ships in the skies are in a deadly struggle, but nobody seems to be taking any advantages. The ground battle has mainly moved to The Beach, as we have regained control of the Jungle, thanks to General Coyote and the Fortress is too dangerous for the Aliens to attack. Our ships on the water are pointing their artillery guns at the rear of the Alien Army and Alien reinforcements waiting for orders. This battle may determine how the war on Aquanonia may come out.” General Banura replied.
“So, what now?” General Banura asked.
Suddenly, they received all distress calls all at once, but one stood out. It was their master, on the Conquerer. His fleet was doing fine, but he was asking for some backup, which was unusual for him. Both generals contacted their second-in-commands, and called for them to bring their fleets in. The two fighters disappeared among the clouds as they joined the real fight.
When they emerged, they saw chaos. The Conqueror was surrounded by 3 gigantic Alien ships, all about the same size. The vessel was holding its own, but the Conqueror was doomed. One of the Conqueror' escorts exploded, then started its descent down. Several Alien fighters came at the two viper fighters, but the viper fighters dodged left and right, then their machine guns blazed. The two Alien starfighters went down as the viper fighters headed off to one of the Alien command ships.
“That thing is humongous!” General Fox said
“What's the plan?” General Banura replied.
The two fighters sped right at the hangar. Some Alien crew jumped out of the way as the viper fighters slowed down, and started blasting their way through the hangar. They sped out as the hangar exploded, damaging the ship’s main reactor.
On the Conquerer, their master watched as the hangar on the ship exploded.
“Divert all firepower to that ship.” he said as the few controllers left switched levers and put on intercoms.
“The two generals must be here.” the master muttered to himself.
As that was going on. The two viper fighter dodged their way up, as one shot from an Alien turbolaser narrowly missed one of them. They saw the unmistakable window of the command bridge, and shot their missile magazine into it. The Alien admiral was blown back as an explosion rocked the whole ship. One of the Alien cruisers had crashed into the ship. They both exploded as the viper fighters flew off.
The 5th fleet, General Banura’s fleet emerged out of the clouds got to the battle first. The ships were mostly intact, as they had been kept in reserve for most of the battle. Consisting of one U-Command ship, 2 pincer-class battlecruisers, 10 command ships, 20 ANT ships, 10 superlaser destroyers, and 30 Cargo Haulers, they were a force to deal with. One of the large Alien ships was swept by the wave of Red Republic Ships, while the Conqueror broadsided the other one. Bothe were doomed. One crashed into the sea, while the other crashed into the desert sands of the Junkyard, pushing a crashed Green Republic cruiser from the First Battle of F-16 Island.
The Conqueror, it’s remaining escorts, and the 5th Fleet headed to where General Fox’s Fleet, the 4th Fleet, was pinned down by Alien reinforcements. The 5th Fleet peeled off to the side, while the Conquer and the other ships headed straight at the Aliens.
One of the Alien Admirals watched as a gigantic bulk of a ship headed straight forward into the Alien ranks. 2 corvettes were taken down, and starfighters streamed out of it’s hangars like bees out of a honeycomb. A squadron of I-80 Suppressors rocked the bridge as the Alien Admiral called for reinforcements.
Back on the ground, Commander Coyote got rid of the Alien task force and received orders to head towards the junkyard. There, the battle was chaos. Alien forces pinned down Red Republic squads on the streets while Green Republic and Spike Republic starfighters held off bombers. Snipers on the crashed starships from both sides took down forces in the “streets” while generals directed forces from command posts.
General Coyote’s forces swept the battlefield, taking back crashed ships, nicknamed “landmarks”. The B6-HAWs would lead the charge, while troops would follow close behind with small task forces securing the tops of starships as their snipers took aim.
One squad on top of the roof noticed the battle overhead. One aimed at an Alien starfighter headed for one of the Viper fighters and fired. The rocket auto-targeted and hit the starfighter straight in the engine.
General Fox was preparing when one of the alerts started beeping, which he studied. Then he realized what was happening. He used his trident to break the fighter’s glass, then jumped out just as the Alien Starfighter crashes straight into his fighter. He pulled out his trident and stabbed it into the Alien starfighter’s hull, where he set his feet on it. Both starfighters were spiraling down to the ground very quickly. He noticed General Banura’s fighter getting farther away, which means he did not realize what had happened to his comrade. He looked around for something to get to, and noticed they were going to crash onto one of the alien ships. He used his trident to slowly direct the crashed fighters towards one of the hangars. Alien crews jumped out of the way as the hunk of metal screeched onto the flight deck.
General Fox slowly lifted the trident off of the metal as the Alien crews stared at him. Then, some brought out pistols and shot at him while the unarmed ones ran for the alarms. General Fox brought out his own pistol and fired back, deflecting shots from his trident. Several hit the Aliens running to the alarms, but one managed to get there and press the button.
Outside, General Banura was circling outside the ship, wondering where General Fox was and what all of the alarms in the Alien ship were about.
Soon, the Aliens in the hangar were dead. General Fox knew that reinforcements would be on their way. He noticed support beams on the ceiling of the hangar, which he jetpacked to. Just after that, one of the broken doors he had sabotaged exploded, and Alien soldiers rushed into the hangar while General Fox made his way into the duct system.
He quickly made his way to the bridge, breaking through ducts and looking down grilles to see what was under him. He found what looked like a command center. An extremely large room that had a force field separating it from the outside. A raised platform had some Aliens working on some panels. Crates and railings were scattered all over, and auto-turrets or mounted machine guns topped some of them. A head on-attack by an one-man-team would probably fail, even for one of the Red Republic’s most skilled generals. He clambered over to a grille right over a support beam above the platform, with an admiral of sorts giving orders. He got out and perched on the beam itself. He scanned the area for any threats, then got out a muffler for his pistol, then took aim at the admiral.
But then, he sensed something behind him and turned around. A creature, which looked like a regular Alien soldier was looming over him. But this was no ordinary Alien. It was enormous, and had long-spindly arms. Strapped on it’s back was an auto turret which aimed at him. One of its hands swiped at him, but he jumped back onto another railing. The creature turned at him, then the autocannon re-aimed. If it fired, all the Aliens would know he was here.
General Fox threw an EMP grenade at the creature. It slightly electrocuted the creature, but the autocannon hung limp form it’s shoulder. As the thing tried to figure out what happened, General Fox took aim at the creature, then fired. The muzzle prevented any sound, but then the creature roared in pain. The Aliens below looked up to see what happened, but General Fox fired into the creature several more times. It slowly fell off the support beam and on top of the admiral. The soldiers started blindly shooting at the support beams. The general spied a control panel in the control center that had “lights” printed on it. He fired and the whole room went dark.
The soldiers looked around to see what happened while General Fox activated night vision on his helmet. He took a look at the admiral trapped underneath the dead creature. His hand was waving around, looking for something to grab hold. General Fox reached for a regular grenade, but realized that the rest had fallen off except for the EMP grenades when the fighter crashed. He jumped down and took out a soldier. Another noticed and started firing at him. He used the other one’s dead body as a shield and advance towards the soldier, who was retreating. General Fox threw the body at him, then fired. Other soldiers were heading to him. He took cover behind a crate, then looked out. About 20 soldiers, armed with swords and guns, were headed in his direction. As if he was at a bowling alley, he rolled an EMP grenade towards the group. It exploded and the guns fizzled and crackled. Some of the soldiers shoot their guns, or hit them with their hands to get them to work. In the confusion, General Fox emerged and fired his dual TX-P10 pistols. Several of the aliens went down, and the others raised their arms. By the time reinforcements came, to rescue the dead admiral, all the aliens in the room had been killed and General Fox had escaped through another duct.
