/Chapter 28/
October 28, 1920
Welp, we lost another young one. May his soul rest in pieces while we were still in the open world for a little while. It wouldn't be long until we join him up in heaven.
“So Marco,” I said to him as I went towards him. “How much did you learn while you were away from us and how?” He stood there for a minute as he thought for a few seconds. "Well, After the plane crashed on the lands of Antarctica, you guys left me alone even though you said you were going to get help for my hand."
The words he said hurt me cause I promised him so and I never did so. “Oh. I’m sorry Marco. I guess I forgot about it when our group was looking for help.” I said as I scratched my head while my cheeks were red. “That’s fine Icy. I found some help on my own.” He said in a bit serious voice. Saying that my help isn't worth his time and couldn't wait for his hand to get better.
“So while you guys were helping Mos getting that ark out of the snowy rock, I explored around the land and well, I came across a tower and decided to go inside and see if anyone was there to help me with my frozen arm. He stopped for a second as I stared right into his eyes.
“Continue,” I said while imagining being inside his shoes. “So I opened the door for what I saw in my sight was a food storage following by a door at the near end. I headed towards the door and as I did, I heard some radio sounds from the other room as I pressed my ears into the door.
But somehow, the men that were in the other room must've heard me cause he came slowly walking towards the door without me noticing and opening it; causing me to fall towards the ground and hit the floor hard on the stomach. He asked me ‘how did you get here in the middle of nowhere.’ So when I was about to explain to him that our plane crashed here, he picked me up and carried me to some kind of room that had all sorts of medical stuff in.
So in the blink of an eye, he gave me a cream to help me cool down the coldness that was running through my hands and just like that, my hand felt all better. Apparently, his name was Jake and he knew a lot of things about planes since he came from Antarctica. He told me that for about 20 years, he’d been flying planes from; left to right all across the world.
After that, he decided to retire on the plane thing and headed towards his lifetime work, the Antarctic.” He explained to me in like less than 10 minutes. I was shocked to see that Marco remembered all this in just a few minutes. “But what about the plane part?” I asked him as he got back to flying the plane towards Paris.
Oh ya, about that. After a few minutes of my hand recovering, he told me how each and every one of the controls worked inside his mini office that nobody goes into. After that, we went outside with our leather coats into the snowstorm and told me how to repair every single part of the plane in case if I was ever in that situation. Fortunately for me, that was the situation that I was exactly in but the only thing is, I didn’t tell him that our plane broke down.
So after that, we both headed inside as he got some hot coffee from the storage room. He grabbed 2 cups for him and me and we sat there; talking about our past and how much we’ve changed our the courses of our years. After we both stopped sipping our warm, hot coffee, we headed once again outside and towards a plane that a flew a long time ago and showed me everything that I need to know if I ever wanted to fly a plane up in the air.
He showed me all kinds of amazing stuff that I’ve never before we crashed here in Antarctica. He showed me the real break that the plane had and the one that just slows down the plane a bit; aka the one I’ve been using all this time. After that, he showed me that there’s more towards the control room then just sitting around and flying a plane to wherever you were heading.
He showed me the upper buttons and what they can do or help you on the plane trip you were flying towards. He told me that this button,” He said as he pointed towards a green button that was currently off, “was a button in case if anyone got out of there seats, the green light will start to blink and it will alarm me to tell that one person to get back into their seats.
There were so many things that Marco was telling me that I lost legit 80% of the information that he just told me. “Ok, so I don’t bore you to death, I'll show you one of thing before I stop annoying you.” He said in a laugh. I laugh a little as I said, “OH no no no, You’re not annoying me, Marco.” I said as I tried to make him feel more positive. “Oh well, in that case, let me show you a bit more in the control room before I show you the big surprise.”
Great. Now I regret saying that to him. “So that was a button that blah blah blah.” I was so fed up with all this that I wanted to jump off the plane with a parachute and fall to wherever it would land me. Marco continued to explain to me all the basic parts of the plane which in my opinion, wouldn't want to learn since I was already planning to never to my whole life to fly a plane up in the air and that was final.
I got so annoyed with Marco information that I started to build up some anger inside of me but I was strong enough and didn’t let those emotions spit out of me. “Hey, Marco…” I said to him as I started to opened the pilots' door from behind me.
“I like listening to your information a lot but can we please get to the most importing thing that you were going to tell me? Please?” Marco stopped talking as he seemed a little upset when I said that.
“Umm… Okie Icy.” He said in a bit sad mood. I felt like a bad person for doing so. I should’ve just let him kept teaching me these plane thing which by the way, I was wasn’t paying attention, cause heck, you never know when I might need them in a cause. Like right now, I could’ve fixed up the plane right there and then if someone would’ve taught me how to.
“You okay Marco?” I said as I looked straight at him. He didn’t look at me when I did so. “Ya. I’m ok.” He said back in a bit of a mad voice. I could tell I made him mad enough then he is already so I rather shut up and go with it.
“Where are you taking me towards?” I question him as I wander around the place he took me. “This my friend, is the weapon room!” He said as he turned on the lights to the room. My jaws wide opened as I saw every single kind of weapons in the room. “This is amazing!” I said in surprise.
“What do you think?” He told me as he was carrying a flamethrower. “This place is amazing! How chu managed to get this place unlocked?” “Oh well, I was looking through the closest of the control room, I found a key to something and went all through the plane as I found its opening.
After I did, I found myself in this room we are in right now!” I couldn't believe that a plane will have this kind of stuff. “Isn’t it wonderful?” He asked me. I was about to say yes until the plane started to go out of control! Joe and Limber came rushing downstairs towards us as they said, “THE PLANE IS FALLING!”
So from there, we rushed as fast as we could upstairs and towards the control room as Marco tried to stop the plane. It was no use. Marco rushed out of the room as he said, “TAKE COVER! WE'RE GOING TO CRASH!” As I ducked down, the plane went backward, taking Maroc straight back towards the control room and into the glass windows. “This wasn’t a good sign.”
And after that, we hit a big dang towards the ground. The plane has crashed.
I gazed at the floor as my eyes started to get back to normal. “Is everyone ok?” I said inside the plane. “I'm okay.” Joe and Limber said. But no response from Marco. I rushed towards the control room just to see Marco covered in blood with windows pieces all over his hand. “MARCO NO!” I rushed towards him as I tried to get him to wake up. “Please, Marco! Wake up!” I felt his heart. Nothing. He was dead.
“Did Marco-” Limber said has he saw Marco dead. “Oh no.” I whipped my tears from my face. “Lets head outside to see where we are,” I said to them as he headed outside. Once the light hit me, I saw everyone surrounding us. “Where in… PARIS?” I said I'm surprised.
I felt like Marco did us a favor before he had to disappear from this world.
Joe handed me a white note as I said, “You made it Marco. You made it…” as I started to cry in front of the people in Paris.
