Chapter 16 - It’s beginning to look like death

I was in a completely different world where there was nothing but an endless amount of colors going through me. "Kiwi!" I heard May soft voice coming from a direction in the distance. "May? Where are you?" I started to shoot at her. I gave it a few minutes for my words to fly into the air but I didn't get anything back.
"May!" I called her once more just in case if she missed the first one. Still no reply. Now I was started to feel that I got tricked into entering a portal that never ends. Great. I didn't know what was worse now. The fact that I was stuck in a pot where I can't even call for help cause I'm in a world that nobody knows excites or the irony that I was going to die here.
I was already losing hope in this trip until I spotted a light brightening u the colors that were in front of me. Just then, May comes from behind me and yells, "Watch out!" Watch out for what? Couldn't she give more details about what I had to watch out for?
It didn't give me a lot of time since the opening of the portal was getting bigger by the second. "Get ready!" She ducked down like a ninja and started to make her position on how she was going to land.
I decided to follow her since she probably been in this portal millions of times. 'H-h-here-e-e-e we-e-e- g-o-o-o!" Her words repeated over and over again. I guess it had to do something with the portal cause if I were her, I wouldn't be making that much mistakes when I'm talking. "Aaaaaa!" I faked my yell with the actual real one that I was making.
My heart felt like it was going to come out from my chest from the speed this portal was rushing towards me.
I had no time into thinking what I was going to become at the time. So what I did best is roll myself into a rolly ball and hope for the good that this will come out. I waited for a few seconds until I dropped down to new grounds. PUMP!
Went my hands onto the grassy ground, covering my sleeves with dirt including an earthworm. "Great landing hu?" I rolled my eyes at her as I tried to get myself unstuck from the position I was in.
"Aw, C'mon! Wasn't that fun?" I got up from the dirt I was laying on, following by some earthworms crawling on me. "Ew, why are there so many earthworms in this new dimension?" May looks at the sun coming up from the clouds as I waited for an answer.
"Well you see, we're not in earth anymore." I froze. Not on earth anymore? Then where can we possibly be where there's clouds, a sun and most importantly, every single thing earth has? "What do you mean 'not on earth anymore?'"
She looked at the grass ground as more earthworms started to come up from the ground; also not smiling anymore. "Well, it's a long story but first, let's head down by the city and away from these earthworms." "And then you'll tell me?" "Hm, perhaps." She started to giggle a little bit. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" I started to make my way down the hill that we apparently landed on and down towards the city. But May didn't move at all from the spot we were standing.
So, I didn't have a choice but to run back to the grassy hill to get her since I don't' know the city by heart. "M-may...W-what are you-u- waiting-g-g for?" I tried to speak while getting my breath back but even that was hard for me to do. "I don't really know." She didn't move. I started to think that she was playing a trick.
I finally rolled my eyes at her, grabbed her from the arms and started to rush down the hill as I shouted, "The last one to the cafe is a rotten egg!" Somehow, that snapped her out of her daydream and put a smiled on her faces. "You're on!"

We took some wrong turns around the city cause it turned out that May hasn't been around this city for about 8 months and from the changes, the city people have made made it really hard for May to know where the cafe was in this big town.
I followed around just in case if I got lost cause as I already said, I wasn't used to being in such a big city like this since I had always lived in a small village for my entire life. "I founded it!" May pointed to a cafe that marked, "Starbucks," in white letters.
We sat on a bench as we watched cars going past us like any other car in town. "I wonder." I started. "Can't we go back to our normal world and forget that this ever happen." "Well, you see." Now all acting like a cartoon girl. "We can't." "Why not?"
I looked straight towards her face. "You see, the portal only works once a week. So since we traveled to here yesterday, we got about 6 more days before we can go back to our old home."
I stared towards her as I tried to get the message she was telling me. 'Excuse me? Am I hearing this right? 6 DAYS?" Her face suddenly becoming a smaller smiler than she had a few minutes ago. "I'm sorry." I had no words to describe how I was feeling right now.
"Do you have any idea how much trouble you got me? My parents are probably worried sick right now and I had no way into calling them since we were out here in the middle of whatever this new world is called.
May finally got up from her set and said, "C'mon Kiwi! It can't be that bad, can it?" I tried really best to calm myself from the situation I was in but it was hard when you know that you can't return to your homeland until 6 days have passed. "I don't know really."
Saying in a dull voice. I wasn't in the mood into hearing what may have to say about this. So that's when I took my chances and left her there on the metal bench. Once she noticed that I was walking away, she started to catch up to me. So that's when I started to run away from her as possible.
"Com back please kiwi!" I'm really sorry about this but you can't run away from me! You can get lost or even kidnapped at it's really least. I froze, not running anymore. I must've stopped for a few seconds cause once I started to catch up to my breath, May already caught up to my position I was in.
May put her hand on my left shoulder; knowing that this won't make it any better for me. "Look Kiwi, I know I didn't tell you about the whole week thing cause I knew when I said that to you back when I was going to introduce to you the portal, I knew that you weren't going to enter the portal. So I didn't include that statement and let you in without you knowing. It was a rotten thing of me."
But the thing that surprised me the most is when she started to get to her knees and started to cry like she lost a championship game. Great. Now I was the one to blame for this whole thing. I got down with her, getting my pants wet from the wet floor that the rain covered up and started to speak to her
"May, you're not a bad friend. You were scared that I wouldn't come with you into this brand new world and will probably lose a chance to meet a new friend.
It happens to the best of us. But someone once told me, Whoev-"Something caught my attraction before I could've finished my speech I was giving to May. All of a sudden, a whole crowd of people started to run towards us with some kind of plushy in their hands. "May get up!" I instantly told her while watching the crowd getting closer to us.
I guess by the time the crowd steps were getting louder, she noticed what was going on. By the time we started to run, the crowd caught up to us with their ideas on their hands. "RUN AWAY!" A man's voice yelled.
This made me curious enough to know what was going on made me look back to see why people were running away. Just when I thought things would have got worse they did, my eyes opened up like a acter getting a jump scared when I saw the one and only, Santa Claus.
"Oh no," May Spoke in terror. He's looking for me. "Wait for what?" I was speechless. What did she mean by that? She looked back at me and said, "Take this Kiwi."
She gave me a flower bracelet that glows when you said the magic words to it. "Remember me." She started to run towards him as his evil eyes started to shine towards her. "MAY NO!" I was spotless. How could she give up her life for that worthless person? Nevertheless, I was a loner now and that was that.
I was...forgotten.
