/Chapter 6/
October 6, 1920
8:00 Am
The next Saturday morning wasn’t as fun as any other one. Instead of sleeping late in bed and having a cup of coffee, Neko and I were out in the cold, Cleaning up the blood and putting up police tape around the girls and boys bathroom doors.
“What’s going on here?” Asked Limber. Limber went across the room, grabbing himself a slice of pizza and coming up towards us. “Oh you know, the usual. Cleaning up the scene that happened yesterday and finding more clues around us.” Neko explained to Limber.
Liber took a bite on his cheese pizza as he responds, “Any clues yet tho?” He asked. “Well, not exactly yet but we’re working on it,” I said in a cracked voice.
Limber took another bite of his cheese pizza as he said, “Well good luck. I will recommend to hurry up. The people back town aren’t happy that you guys are taking forever to find clues for 2 days straight.” Limber said as he walks away from the room and left.
“Who does he think he is?” Neko said in an irritated voice. “What’s wrong?” I asked Neko as I gave her a drink and hopefully to calm her down a little bit. Neko took a sip from the punch as she began to talk in a mad voice, “Does he think it’s easy to find clues?
Plus we rather be doing other stuff than this but no, we do this. Sometimes I just think boys have no respect.” Neko complained to me. I looked around the Town Hall as the sun shined through the windows. The fresh breeze blew inside the Town Hall as I shivered a little bit.
“Neko,” I said as I put my hands on her shoulders. “I think you need a break from all this mess. Besides, it could help you cool down from all this detective work.” I explained to her. Neko dropped her mop as she looked at me with those Kawai's eyes.
“You know what?” She said, looking straight at me. “You’re right Icy. I do need a break from all this. Besides, we’re almost done cleaning up this hot mess from yesterday’s incident so maybe after this, we can. Okie?” He said.
I looked around the bathroom. She had a point. We were almost done cleaning up the mess so why not? Besides, it can also help relax from this mess.”
10:00 AM
Neko and I were finishing locking up the boy and girls bathroom as we put up the police tap or as I like to call it, Yellow tap and packed up to take a break from all this. I locked up the front doors behind me as Neko was already ahead of me. “Wait up!” I giggled as I yelled at her.
“Catch me if you can!” She laughs back at me as she started to run. I started to think this was a bad idea but hey, it didn’t hurt to try. Besides, everyone else was working on their things so why can’t we?”
I started to chase her down by the hills as she kept getting farther away from me. “Too slow haha,” she yelled at me. “Oh, I’ll catch you soon you goose!” I yelled at her as I laughed. It wasn’t until Neko stopped in a middle of a Springfield. The field was covered in blooming flowers. The smell in the air smelled like dandelions around us.
The field looks like it belonged to someone but no signs of trespassing nor houses near it so I’m guessing it was fine to be here.
We spent like the next 3 hours in the field. Neko and I grabbed our picnic blankets, some food in our basket, and played around the field and let our minds take over that day. We were having the time of our lives until I looked at my watch and dear loud. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was 1:00 PM!
I can’t believe we spent 3 hours here. I just wanted to spend like about 20 minutes around the field but my god. I didn’t know our minds will take our ENTIRE day of searching. I knew the minute we got back home. We wouldn’t be seeing happy faces on people.
1:00 PM
I yelled at Neko from the distance, “Neko! Get over here!” Neko was jumping around the fields as she was chasing a butterfly. She heard me yelling at her and stopped chasing the butterfly as she raced towards me. “What’s wrong Icy?” Neko asked me
“Neko! We have to get back! We spent 3 hours here when we were supposed to only spent 20 minutes.” I explained to her. She looked a little concerned as she looked at me. “Well, It was your idea in the first place,” Neko replied.
She had a point. This whole mini trip that became a long trip was all my fault. Now they're going to blame Neko also with this when it was all my fault. “We better be going,” I said in a turned down voice. “I packed everything up and headed towards the Town Hall.
On the way home, I thought to myself, “Maybe they won’t notice that we were gone for 3 hours.” She thought positive. But the minute they got back to Town, that bubble popped into a million pieces. Everyone was standing near their house. But what I was most worried about was Marco crossing his hands towards us. That notify me that we were in deep trouble.
3:00 PM
“Hey Icy” Marco said in an evil voice. “Were you two been?” He questions us as he smiled. I wanted to blow the bomb but I made a good choice to keep my mouth shut and just stayed quiet. “Not much of a talker now hu?” Marco replied. FireFox came towards us as she replied with the simplest words she had to say, “Guess who wouldn't be detectives anymore?” She smiled at us.
Neko and I had a red face crossed all over our face as shame built up against us. Neko has the nerve to say “I’m guessing we?” to FireFox. “You’re correct my sweetheart!” She smiled as she grabbed our hats and threw them to the ground. “You’re fired.” And that’s all we heard from her.
5:00 PM
Well, that was it. Our detective's jobs were over. Neko and I were pretty pumped up about it but we knew the consequences that were coming towards us. ‘Well Neko, We don’t have to wake up around 7 in the morning to do this job anymore. We can have more time to sleep!” I said to her. But she didn’t say anything back. She looked down at her shoes as she walked back home.
8:00 PM
She left back home along as she left me alone in the middle of the street. A lamp was flickering off and on as I sat next to a bench. I saw from a far distance that the party has started. I saw the time on my clock and surprisingly, it was 8:00 PM. I wonder why they did it at 8:00 PM instead of 9:00 PM but then I remembered. It’s Saturday. The first season out of five was ending so they do the party at 8:00 PM every Saturday instead of at 9 PM.
I wanted to join the last 1 season of the party but I didn’t feel like joining cause something was telling me that something big was going down tonight. Just then, in the distance, I heard dynamites up ahead. I jumped from the bench and took a look from a corner into the distance of a hill. To my surprise. It was the same shadow I saw a few days ago!
I took a step closer from where I was standing and the minute I did, I saw a dynamite in his hands! HE WAS GOING TO BLOW THIS PLACE UP! I rushed towards Town Hall, not wasting a minute but unfortunately for me, the shadow beat me there. He was blowing up the Town Hall. All I could hear was people running out of the Town Hall and screaming for their lives.
But by the time I looked around, he was putting everyone's houses of fire! The Town we lived in was going down…
I looked around to see if Neko was safe. I saw her running out of Town with the rest of the people. I was relieved. “Mommy, I’m scared!” Said a little girl about 6 years old. “It's going to be okay sweaty!” Her mother said to her as she carried her toward her shoulders.
I was about to run until I heard someone screaming help in the Town Hall. It was Wolfie! I wanted to help but someone grabbed me from the hands and took me away from the Town. “But there's a girl I’ve to help!” I screamed. But he or she couldn’t hear me from the Chaos that was happening.
We all went up the hill as we saw our Town getting buried alive. “My home…” I said quietly. All I could hear was little kids and people my ages crying. I had tears going down my eyes. I couldn't stop thinking about Wolfie. Just then when I was about to go downhill, the biggest explosion bombed. Our Town was gone.
I cried so hard when the Town Hall exploded. I can't believe my eyes. Wolfie was gone. “I’m so sorry Icy,” Limber said. Limber hugged Icy as she snuggled towards him. At that point, everyone was quiet. Then, Firefox said to everyone, “I’m sorry. But We have to move on.” She said in a deep voice.
9:30 PM
Everyone started their long journey to find somewhere else to live. I looked back one more time to look back at my memories when I grew 17 years in that nice town. Now, it’s all gone. As I looked back one more time, all I saw was the Town Hall blown up and everyone’s houses were burning to the ground. This Halloween isn’t over. I said out loud with my fist in the air, “This isn’t over Halloween Killer! I WILL FIND YOU!”
And from there, I cried as I left my Town I grew up in…
