Chapter 4- The Untold Lie

December 4, 2018

Nothing beats a Tuesday morning with a hot coffee with some garlic bread while my parents were still asleep. My brother Ash was already awake like 2 hours before I was awake but he doesn't make much of a fuss which was a good thing for my side. "Want anything?"

I peeked into the living room where my brother was. He was those types of people that be watching football all day while there was a sunny day in front of him. "No thanks, but thanks Gracie," He told me. I think it was best to say that my brother wasn't a big fan of eating so early in the morning and I didn't blame him for that either.

The morning was still early, this gave me time to make my plans for the day for today. I headed into the garage where my dad always keeps his work paper for his building job when he goes to work. I thought it wouldn't hurt if I just took a few pieces of paper for my own.

Besides, he has a lot of paper left for work so I don't see why not. I cut myself a 4x6 piece of paper and still thought that even that was big for me. So what I did was possibly the very last thing I would ever do in my whole life. I was brave enough to do so even though my parents told me to never use it. The cutter machine.

My dad always told me to never use that machine cause there was a possibility that I will accidentally cut my hand off which will give me the vibe to never go near it ever again. I decided to take the risk and go with it.

I started up the machine, making a small broom sound when I started it. I gently started to push the paper towards the cutting machine, making sure the sides of it didn't get cut that much. I was surprised to so the results after I was done cutting it.

I realized that I have wasted so much by cutting just one piece of paper, by the time I looked at my watch, it was already 8 o'clock; that being said, my parents were already awake. So, I did best and headed outside and went near the sprinklers to make it look like I went for a run and came back all sweaty. "Honey, you're home! You look hungry!" Surprisingly, the trick worked.

"No thanks, mom. I'm not that hungry right now." Her faced looked surprised that I wasn't going to join them for breakfast for the first time. "Oh, okay. Have any plans?" I could see that she was trying her best to find out why I wasn't going to join them for lunch today. "Kinda, not really." I was just planning to head to Marco house and help him solve out the situation that happened yesterday." At that point, my dad jumped into our conversation.

"Hmm, you should." He started. "I read the news and well, it has been a sad but cruel world right now. 3 people were already killed from the start of December. So if I were you, I better keep my watch on the killer cause you never know."

There was a deep silence in the room for a good minute or so. "Um, okay dad? Thanks?" He didn't say anything back to me. "Well, you go and have well...fun?" I gave her the nod and headed out the back door.

Just when I was about to leave the yard, my brother calls from the top window. "You forgot this!" He threw down a Christmas hat my mom gave me last Christmas. "Thanks, Ash!" I waved at him.

A few minutes later, I was at the crime scene where I saw Smoosh cracking up with tears while his brother Marco gave him some tissues. "It's okay Smoosh." He told her. "Hey guys, need a help?" I tried to be helpful as I could but it didn't seem like they wanted my help right now. "No thanks Gracie but thanks for stopping by!

We really appreciated but I think it's best if you skip us today while we settle down a bit. Sorry." "I understand." My voice sounding a bit disappointed. I decided that it was best to leave them along whole they settled down a bit.

I looked around the block, giving me an idea to head down to Pristin house to see if she wanted to have some fun today. I gave a small knock on the door, hoping by this time they were already awake. Pristin opened the door with her hair all over her face. "Oh, sorry to wake you up! I'll go if you want!"

"Oh no no, we were just finishing up eating breakfast! Come in, Come in!" I smiled at her while I took my beat up shoes off and left them in the side of her polished door. "So, what brings you here on a nice day?"

I looked around her house, wondering what changes they've made for Christmas. The corner of the living room had a simple tree with some red, green, and yellow lights going off and on. "Nothing much I guess. Marco and Smoosh are getting settled down from the situation that occurred yesterday."

We both headed off into the kitchen to talk about it some more. "Oh ya, I heard about it in the news yesterday. Also, I heard your name in the news while it was being played. Did you have anything to do with this?" I could see that in her point of view, she tried to make me look like I was being a part of this.

"No no, I was inside the house when suddenly, a bash of wind enter the living room and suddenly, the lights went off. Minutes later, the lights came back on and it only took us a second to realize that Dog was dead."

She scanned the conversation I told her, making sure that I didn't make this up. "Hey, guys!" Iuc entered the room with a vanilla muffin on her hand. "What you guys talking about?" Iuc always loves to get into people business which was one reason why I didn't like her.

"Hmm, nothing much." But Iuc was smarter than we thought she would be; cause she started to ask, "If you guess weren't talking about anything then why did I hear you guys talk about something about Marco and Smoosh in the other room?

At that point, there was no use of thinking of an excuse to stop her from knowing our conversation. "Nothing really big to be honest." I tried to make it as boring as possible. "Just some murdering case."

Now, Pristin and I knew that Iuc didn't like any type of story that involved killing or blood in it. So when we told her if she wanted to know the detail and the gross in it, she left the room faster than an ant trying to escape death.

"Well Pristin, it was nice talking with you but I think it's time for me to head home." We both shook hands on it; she leading me to the front door and waving goodbye at me. I told myself on the sidewalk, "Hmm, maybe this Christmas won't be that harsh as it looks like." That thought was kept in my mind for some good hours from now.

The day was setting down when it felt like it was just getting starting. My feet felt so numbed that I wanted to lay on the ground and let someone take me home while I enjoyed the ride but I couldn't. What had to be started, has to be finished no matter what.

The birds around me started to head for their homes in the trees while the local squirrels did the same. I was amazed at the fact on how beautiful human nature could be when you really see it from another point of view. To bad that many people were cutting down their homes just to make paper and houses when we already have enough to start with.

I tell you, this society I live in is going to die sooner or later if we keep up with this endless cycle. When I got to my front home, police tape was everywhere typed up in my yard. Police cars were everywhere in my front yard.

"Oh no!" My mind filled with the terror on what exactly just happened. I rushed through the police tap but that's when a policeman stopped me. "Hey, there little girl. You can't stress pass here." "But I live here." He didn't feel so concerned that I lived here but I had no other choice but to go in.

The minute I entered the room, I saw my brother dead body, laying on the floor; covering 90 percent of the rug with blood. "I'm sorry." My dad looked up at me with tears going down his face. "Gracie, please..."

I could harley have the dark words to describe this terrifying scene that I was witnessing. "NO!" I shouted. "THIS CAN'T BE!" My heart beated by the second as I dropped down to my knees and let the tears inside me burst out like a dam blocking the river to the ocean.

I knew that the Santa Claus I grew up with, didn't exactly mention anything about killing innocents kids. But there will have to be one person to go up and face him, and that would be me.
