/Chapter 3/
October 3, 1920
The car ran faster than Lightning McQueen itself towards the Police Station while the moon shined beyond the car's windows. I couldn’t feel anything, anything besides the mistake I’ve committed inside myself. It took about 10 minutes to get to the police station at mid-time. I looked down at my look to see what time it was and to my surprise, it was 1 in the morning. I honestly was shocked that everyone was up at this time.
It was freezing cold outside so I went back inside the car to grab the comfy coat that my mom gave me for my 11 birthday and trust me, It fit perfectly fine when I wore it. I headed for the police station as fast as I could be followed by Neko behind me. I looked through the windows as the fog started to fog up the stained glass. I barely notice a cop inside working on some kind of paperwork.
Neko and I headed towards the policeman to ask him if we could get Icy back. “Um excuse me,” I said in a quiet voice. I could tell the man wasn't happy being inside a police station alone and doing paperwork and stuff. I think he rather is with his family spending the night on the dinner table and talking about whatever they had to say but that was on him.
“Yes? Can I help you.” He said to me as he sipped his cup of coffee towards him. I could tell that the men weren't the type of men you would tell a funny joke towards him. “Yes, well I came here cause I did a mistake calling 911 without realizing or noticing the whole background of the murder situation that happened yesterday so I was thinking of getting my friend back?” I explained as I looked around the room. The room had some nice flower pots that a lot of flower shops will have displayed outside their window.
“Well,” He said as he got up from his seat and towards what looked like a cylinder with a Halloween pumpkin as its shape. “We don’t just arrest people for no reason and then some of her ‘friends’ come over and ask if they can have there friend back oh no. That’s not what we do around here young man.” He explained in a sorta rude way. I could already tell that this guy wasn't a big fan of me coming out around 1 in the morning and interrupting him.
“So, we can’t get our friend back?” I asked back with some worry inside me. He looked at me as he walked towards his desk and sat on his seat with his hands crossed and looking straight at me. “I’m not saying you ‘can’t’ get your friend back. What I’m saying is you want a friend that you ‘thought’ murder someone a few hours ago and now you want her back. So what we do in that case is give out a paperwork that you guys fill out.”
The minute I heard the words “paperwork” spit out of his mouth, I knew we were going to be there for a while and when I meanwhile, I mean all mid-night. I saw him carrying like 3 inches of paper files and I knew half of them were probably something like “Fake murder took in” or “Murder in law” blah blah blah. He sat the papers on a near end table around the stain doors and he gave them an evil look and said, “Good luck.” and walked away.
“Well Cord, better start filling out the papers and make our way towards the end.” Neko sighed as she started to sign some papers. I glanced towards the papers only to see the endless amount of papers, waiting for be signed.
Meanwhile with Icy…
So I sat there in the cold, bloody cell that I was locked in. I couldn’t bear to think of what my fake friends became to me. Now I’m going to miss Halloween and it’s all because of an innocent arrest the police did. I said it a million times but I’ll say it again, it's what this stupid town does best. I pulled my knees toward my face as tears started to drop from my eyes. “My very own friends. How could they.” I looked outside the windows that were half covered in jail cells.
I saw a half moon above the sky with some stars showing up by the minute. All I wish is to go outside one more time and enjoy the fresh air going through my body as I felt the air flow through my skin.
I got down from where I was making myself taller to look outside the window as I notice people were sleeping in there cells around me. I wanted to know what time it was but sadly enough, they don’t put clocks on the walls so I’d to look outside and predict what time it was. I was guessing it was around 2 in the morning since it will chilly outside. I didn’t have a blanket or anything inside my cell so what I did best is to lay on the metal thingy whatever they call it inside a jail cell and make it the best I could.
I lay there for a few minutes until my blue eyes started to fall asleep and before I notice, my eyes took myself into a wonderland of dreams while I fell asleep in no time.
Back at the Town Hall...
Everyone was inside wearing either a coat or a blanket around them to keep warm to themselves even tho they were inside the Town Hall. What’s is taking them so long?” Water questioned the crowd. “Look Water,” Dany said as he got closer to Water. “You don’t just go towards a police station and say to them, 'Oh I’m sorry, There was a mistake of murder and I want my friend back.' No. It doesn’t work like that. You have to fill an endless amount of paper and calls in order to get someone out of jail and check to see if they are safe to once again, go outside into the world." Dany explained.
Everyone looked straight at them as it looked like they were going to fight. “And how exactly do you know all this? I don’t remember learning this in school.” Water asked. “You don’t You just do,” Dany remarked. ‘But how?” Water kept asking. Dany just ignored her as he headed outside.
“Way to make Dany even more stressed then he already is,” Bark said. Water stood there for a few seconds until tears came out of her eyes and ran straight towards the bathroom. Everyone watched as she did so. “She’ll get over it,” Dany remarked back as he closed the front door to the Town Hall.
Hours past as everyone was doing their thing until 9 in the morning rolled in.
Police station:
“Finally!” Neko and Cord cried out loud. “It’s finally finished! After 7 hours of bloody filling out papers, we’re done!” They headed towards with there papers to the front desk as the Police officer took the papers to put it on the scanner to see if they did all the paperwork. “Well well,” He said with a grin. “I can see you guys really care about her and for that, I’ll let her out.” He said as he went inside to unlock Icy's cell. “Indeed we are.” Neko and Cord said in their minds. Icy came out to a surprised to see some of their friends again. “Neko? Cord? What are you guys doing here?” She questioned.
“Were friends. Friends spot the mistakes we do and we will do anything to get you back! Even if it takes 7 bloody hours of paperwork to get you back! Icy was speechless and didn’t know what to say so all she did is gave them a big hug. “Awww, we missed you too,” Neko said.
“Well, I couldn’t thank you guys enough for what you did today for me! I really appreciate it!” She cried. “Well, it was the least we could do! Now let's get you home! You look hungry!” Cord said as he unlocked the car doors.
They headed for the closest Ihop to take a quick breakfast meal and headed back towards the road and back into town. Once they got back to town, they got off while Cord parked the car and locked the doors inside the car. “Let's head for the Town Hall and see what they're up to!” Icy said. They went inside the Town Hall as they spotted everyone crowded near the girl's bathroom. They rushed towards Dany to explain what was going on. “What happened?” Neko asked.
Dany slowly turned around with his eyes watery. “Waterwolf… is dead.” He said in a broken toon. They couldn’t believe their eyes. Water…was dead…
“Everyone make way!” Icy insisted. Everyone moved out of the way as she went inside the girl's bathroom. The floor was covered with blood all over as expected. Until I spotted a note on the wall.
I got outside as I announced, “I found another note!” I opened the note as I read it out loud, “3 nights hu? And you guys are just making my job easier every day. Now let's see who gets the last word tomorrow! - The Halloween Killer." Everyone paused in the room.
“We gotta act on this or else, this Halloween killer will kill us in a blink of an eye. Each night” Neko explained.
