So a few days ago my dad was telling me how I can use a manual Transmission because later in the future imma get my own car with a standard transmission

Before starting your car: now remember if your gonna start your car make sure the stick is in neutral and the perfect way you can tell is by pressing the clutch in which is usually the left pedal and shake the stick left and right, if you feel the stick going left and right at a long distance then you’ll know it’s in neutral other wise you’re most likely in one of the gear. So in order to put the stick back in to neutral is by pressing the clutch and either move up or down and then shake until you feel like you’re wiggling it left and right with more free space. Now that your car is in neutral you press the clutch in and start your car that way the car doesn’t move once you turn it on

Once you start your car: now that you started your car all you need to do is to shift into first gear which is moving the stick to the right and move it up now you’re in first gear but keep in mind you still have to hold the clutch while shifting and it won’t move once you let go of the clutch so in order to move at a slow pace just slowly get go of the clutch and it will let the car move.

while driving on the road: now when driving you have to pay attention to the RPM because if your gonna shift gears to go a bit faster you have to pay attention to the RPM but if the speedometer is broken or there is no rpm on the speedometer then listen to the engine because the more gas you put into the car the higher the RPM and to perfectly tell when to shift is when the rpm is just right on the speedometer or if the engine of the car gets a little loud or make more of that RRRRRRRRRR then you can shift by pressing on the clutch and shift to 2nd gear by pulling the stick down

3rd and 4th gear: generally I’d suggest switching to 3rd of 4th if your on an open road or on the freeway or highway, so how do I switch the gear to 3rd and 4th, well remember you gotta match those rpms in order to upshift so you don’t loose speed when to to shift, press on the clutch, and instead of pulling down the stick you push it up to where neutral is and then you move to the right not all the way (unless if you have a 4 speed) and then push it up again and let go of the clutch to keep moving. To shift into 4th gear you press on the clutch and then pull the stick down to 4th and boom now shifting to 5 and maybe 6 is very similar and I’ll put many pictures of stick shifts.

How to down shift: now when down shifting all you gotta do is let the throttle go make sure the rpms go down but don’t instantly let go of the throttle and shift down other wise if you down shift the rpms can go up really quick and if you drive fast beware because if you’re not careful with down shifting with the manual on your own then you can seriously do some damage to the transmission which can cost a fortune to fix the transmission. So let the rpm go down a bit while you down shift or listen to car that makes a quieter engine noise and then press on the clutch and down shift you can also press on the brake and clutch at the same time because the brake is more connected to the brake caliper on the wheels.

how to reverse: say you wanna get out of a parking lot well here’s a thing sometimes the reverse gear can be next to the first gear, 2nd gear maybe below 5th or next to it or maybe even sixth gear but that I will show you in another thread on how to to use the reverse gear but lemme remind you that you need to press down the stick in order to reverse.
