Maybe this is a good idea, maybe it isn't. I think it would be, though (I guess that's obvious, or I wouldn't suggest it).
This mainly applies to Tag Hunters, in my experience. When the game isn't full, and I don't think I've ever played in a full one, the teams are very unbalanced. You could end up with a team of four, a team of three, and two teams of one each. It gives certain teams, and their players, a huge advantage, and puts others at a disadvantage. The teams of three or four can easily gang up on the teams of one or two, and its pretty clear who will win the match. It also seems to end up with players leaving the game because its just too unfair.
It doesn't seem so bad in other team games. Micro Battles and Splatter have always been even in my experience. I've never played Team Sky Wars, so I don't know if it's a problem there.
The solution: remove the team choice, and have players sorted into roughly even teams at the beginning of the game.
EDIT:
Since that apparently hasn't been clear, I will explain a bit more. I'll admit the phrasing of the title is misleading, but I thought that the actual post had the meaning clear.
I'm not suggesting to remove teams entirely. I enjoy the team games, but the unequal teams bother me and make the game unfair. I'm suggesting that players don't choose which team they're on, but that we get sorted into teams that are as even as possible without choosing them.
For example, right now, if nine people join a game and choose their teams, the teams might be:
Red: 4
Bue: 3
Green: 1
yellow: 1
If the players are sorted into their teams so that they're as even as possible, they would be:
Red: 3
Blue: 2
Green:2
Yellow: 2
It's not exactly even, because of the number of players, but it's closer.
