(This is in the year 2060, and this is a sneak peak of the chapters that will come out soon. This is the prologue of the story)
Prologue: Year 2060
He took out a broom and started sweeping, humming to himself. His humming echoed through the school, and created an eerie atmosphere. But he did not mind. He was a janitor, what was there to fear?
He had stayed late to clean, because he hadn’t finished. The principal said that was fine, as long as he locked up the school before 7pm. He still had plenty of time. It was only 6:30, though it was becoming dark outside.
He had one last thing to check on. That new robot that they got, which was supposed to help clean things, organize things, and be a sub for a teacher, if necessary.
He sighed. That robot was going to put him out of a job.
He headed over to the robot's charging station. The robot wasn’t very fancy, it really looked like one of those robots that you see as a child. Box head, arms, torso and legs. Although, the robot was huge. At least 2 feet taller than the janitor, who was roughly 5’6.
He unhooked the robot from its charging station, and the robot came alive. The janitor was confused. He wondered why it had turned on, when he had not pressed the robot’s on button.
“Let's play hide and s-seek,” the robot creaked.
The janitor was once again confused. The robot is new, yet it sounds 20 years old. He also didn’t understand why it requested for both of them to play hide n seek. He thought maybe the robot thought school was happening right now.
The janitor continued his procedure, and checked the robot to make sure it was working correctly. The janitor nodded to himself. Everything seemed right. He hooked up the robot again and made sure to turn it off.
The janitor started locking up for the night. He was almost done locking up when he heard the robot power up again. He became scared. He ran towards the front of the school, which was 2 hallways away. He heard the robot shuffling about, until it’s creaky wheels started working.
The janitor looked behind him, and immediately regretted his decision. He watched the robot turn the corner and enter the hallway that he was in. It’s beady red eyes came closer and closer to him, until the robot jabbed something sharp in the janitor’s torso. The janitor struggled under the robot’s grasp, but became limp after a few seconds.
The only thing the janitor could remember after that was his limp body being dragged down into the school’s basement, his head hitting each cold, concrete step, until he lost consciousness once again.
