QuakeCraft Guns?

what's the point of buying a gun like will it be the starting weapon or does it upgrade that gun can someone tell me the point of buying guns in quakecraft?

It will always start with you in your hotbar, and in-game, instead of picking-up the gun when someone drops it upon death, you will pick only the gun's ammunition.
