hey guys!
so, a lot has been going on, especially around pride month.
so, i saw that lots of people who are in the lgbtq+ community have to leave the server due to the amount of hate they get because of that fact.
i don't know if this rule is already in place, but if one person even says the word gay in a bad way, i think it should result in a permenant ban.
it's very disgusting to see how such good people have to leave because their mental health just deteriorates because of people who aren't doing a nice thing..
that's my idea, what do you guys think? :)
 
The only rule i found related to the lgbtq+ community is this

***This also includes any other arguments/disputes in chat that staff members deem worthy of punishment. In arguments the oppressor will be banned. For example, in a racial argument the player(s) being hateful towards the race will be banned. However the player(s) defending the race will not.

I understand though! Although this could lead to miscommunication and misinterpretation it would be nice for it to be added. I don’t see how a sexuality is a funny thing to joke about.

No hate but, here's my point

Just pretend that Emily and lav didn't bypass, REMEMBER PRETEND. They would have a chance to be unbanned since I knew them well, they're part of the LGBT community and they started getting bullied and harassed, an example of one of them was zathan (gimme 2 mins to confirm this so no hate). They're decent people if you get to know them, they got banned for defending themselves from bullies. Is there something about protecting yourself from being bullied from being different from someone?

LGBT people are people too, not animals or aliens from the planet llanfairsilililililigogogoch. I think that people should have more respect for them, if they want to live that way they can. I also think that the words "gay" and so on in any context should be muteable as Arwa said its disgusting how people have to leave because of their mental health deteriorating because of people not being nice.

Add on- their forums accounts are banned too, since they're LGBT I assume they were bullied here too and tried to defend themselves, even so, they're different from us. Staff banned 1 of not many LGBT pairs here on forums. Does it sound fair that they were banned and not anyone else?

i'm not disputing your points on LGBTQ+ hate in brlns, but i do believe that emily and lav were not banned for defending themselves. they were banned for being toxic to other people multiple times and for constantly bullying in general. so, i don't think that them protecting themselves has anything to do with them being banned.

Although I don’t like things like this and try my best to avoid getting myself in any kinda of dispute, I have to agree that this is wrong. In so many levels I say.

May not seem much, but Brokenlens has a little home for our LGBT+ people in our community. They deserve the same respect as much as we do. They are no different than us, they just prefer other things that we people have been taught to be ‘unusual’. I see no reason why hate on these people, why they get harassed and made fun of just because of their sexual preferences. Why they get targeted because they are part of such a wonderful community. And something should be done about this.

Like Splashing said, a permanent ban is too much for just saying the word in any offensive way. A mute can do the trick, but maybe extend that mute to a week (7 days).

In the end of the day, these are just teens saying such things. They’re in the stage were they think saying these things is “okay” or “normal” or even makes them mature in some way. They still need time to realize that these people have feelings too. Everyone deserves to be loved.

7 days might be a bit excessive. Possibly 3-5 days?
