I am win 10 too. I know for sure jumping will make you get knocked back further. Also, clicking faster will allow to increase your reach, because like how everyone has already said, you can get combos like that.

Also I checked, win 10 have a reach of 5 blocks while playing Minecraft (like survival and creative). I am not sure if this applies to the servers too.

It's because you're both pc, obviously. Consider that you're getting combos with their hits, that's why.
