Note: Wasn't sure where to post (was deciding between Off-Topic, General Discussion and Introducing Yourself, ended up posting in Off-Topic because then it wouldn't exactly be spam XD), so staff members are allowed to move to a different section at will.
What I'm about to tell you can apply to a few of us here. Yes, even you, dearest reader. I'm serious. So why don't we see if you are one of us?
All the active people here are people who love BrokenLens, and we all are quite attached to one another. Maybe not with certain people, but we all have our own little groups of close friends who we love... right? Wrong. Not all of us have our own little "groups". Maybe you just like hanging out with one specific person. Or maybe everyone.
Either way, you become close with certain people, and when this happens, love comes into play. I don't mean romantic love, just normal friendship love. But, as we all know, love can be dangerous.
For instance, love can lead to obsession.
To all the active people in BrokenLens, just admit it—you've probably grown an obsession with this place. An obsession which is hard to break. If you were asked to quit for even a week, you'd either refuse, or suffer it but call it, "the worse pain and suffering I've ever endured".
Why? Because you aren't just leaving strangers. No, you are leaving people who you've shared things with, things you never thought you'd tell anyone. We call these things "secrets", and only tell them to our closest and dearest friends.
"Hold on. "Closest and dearest friends"? Aren't those the kind who you refuse to part with?" you may be asking. Correct. The kind you refuse to part with.
The reason I made this thread is because I want to tell you something:
Don't trust BrokenLens as much as you probably currently do, and don't put it above everything else.
We are only people you've met on the Internet, and you know what everyone says: never trust people on the Internet. That one person who you trust on here with your deepest secret could be deceiving you, and you won't be aware until someone approaches you about it.
But by then, you can't do anything about it, can you? They know, and you can't force them to forget what they've been told.
Once seen, it is impossible to unsee. (I say "see" because you're technically reading something, and not being told something face-to-face.)
What I'm trying to say is, don't tell anyone anything personal about you. That's if you haven't yet. There are some people here who have done things society tells you not to, like show your face to someone you met online, who you don't know in real life.
Well a lot of us failed that quite quickly, didn't we?
And then we have names. Names don't really matter, I'll admit, since a lot of people have the same name. But, if your name is a name which isn't common, you probably shouldn't tell it to anyone. Why? Because if it's rare and uncommon, well, society loves to make people outcasts, don't they? And don't give me all that "but BrokenLens is a very welcoming and accepting community" crap because there will always be that one person who's ready to break some random stranger to pieces at any moment.
Oh, and don't put BrokenLens above everything else. I did that, and you know where it got me? Anti-socialism, obsession, loss.
Whenever I think of the name "BrokenLens", it's makes me laugh, because it's the reason for my broken family. You see, I never talk to any family anymore. If I do, I'm either just trying to annoy them or actually trying to fix this broken family of mine. And the reason why, is because I spend all my time here.
I've grown an unhealthy obsession with this place and this is what has happened.
So please, I beg you, don't do what I have done. You have plenty of time, so get rid of this obsession. Stop it while it hasn't bloomed yet. Don't wait until the last second. As the saying goes, a stitch in time saves nine.
I'm not telling you to not come on BrokenLens ever again, but what I am telling you is to spend less time here, and more time actually living your life proper and having a happy life. Don't let BrokenLens be your greatest downfall, because it is a really great place if you cherish it properly and don't obsess over it.
If you've found this, comment below, "Unicorn".
Thanks,
Lauren
And don't get me wrong I do still love you all XD This is just a warning, to stop anymore unhealthy obsessions.
[Edit:
Also, I WASTED A WHOLE HOUR ON THIS SO APPRECIATE IT -.- XDD]
