I think it's very disrespectful to have a username after a mental disorder, example: bipolar, depression, anxiety, etc.
You can call me a Karen but I really think that people must stop using those words for their usernames, I mean, a person with a diagnose can see the username and who know how are they going to react. Also, I know that these people with these usernames think that depression or anxiety are aesthetics, like bruh.
As a person with diagnoses I find it like if people don't even care or don't take these issues serious.
Thank you.

PD: Pls don't self diagnose, it's useless lol.

I do agree with you, but I don't think it should be a problem if they aren't making fun of the illness/mental disorder or they are treading around saying they have it. And I know a few people who do have that as their user only for the aesthetics and they haven't done anything along the lines of what I've said.

I understand that it may come off as insensitive and disrespectful to many users who do deal with these issues but if they aren't attacking you for it then we should be passive. If you don't appreciate these users then just ignore them, don't start anything with them. If you see their name, you can just turn the other way. You already know the reason why they have the name they do, and they aren't self diagnosing themselves for having it.

That's the problem lol, they use it as an aesthetic. It's too normalized that people can't see the issue.

Trust me many users do this, and many people have issues. But many people don't openly state this, so it has never been a huge problem in-game. In fact many users ignore them or just don't care. I'm pretty sure if it became an issue it would have been handled a long time ago, if they deemed that having these types of names were bad they wouldn't have allowed it.

Now other names like overdose, cutting, suicide, etc. I don't approve of as these could be triggers for people. but the names you stated in my opinion are pretty passive as they aren't really triggering names, self diagnosing, or just attacking people with that. its just the name in general. You can look at anxiety and be like "oh it's just the word" but with overdose, eeeeehhh your gonna think someone has serious issues.

and this is why I'm saying not to turn it into an issue. I understand deeply how you feel as someone who was officially diagnosed with both depression and anxiety (which I no longer deal with). If people have normalized it to the point it isn't causing people in the server to lash out then don't turn it into something bad. If you know why they have it can't you just accept that? Yes, its extremely irritating, but I mean what can we do about it? People are going to do what they want to do and they'll find ways around the rules to use the name.

BL is trying to allow users to have a certain level of freedom, let's not take that from people because we have our own personal issues were dealing with. How would you feel if someone didn't like your name and you were forced to change it cause it had the word Mason in it (which is a name for a cult actually)?

If you see someone with that name, and they are openly conversing about the name on a non aesthetic basis and its coming off in a way that could attack you verbally, then yes, say something and report it. But if they aren't bothering you do you really need to bother them about it?

Yaaasss, that's also what I' taoking about, even tho there's almost no users with those names, but on the other hand using those names such as bipolar or anxiety that people don't even know what are those terms will think that it's cool to use it as an aesthetic, THAT'S THE ISSUE. They're not supposed to sound cool, people will think that grey and black represents depression or will think that they're crazy for being bipolar. Most of these users are around 12-16 and I don't a diagnosed person will use these kind of usernames.

Ummm, Mason is also a last name, but depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, etc, are just mental disorders, just that. Homophobia was also normalized in the past (I know these are different things but you compared a lastname with a mental disorder)

I understand where your coming from. And I do agree. People see these names and automatically think dark, suicidal, sad, grey, etc. But as I said, as someone who was diagnosed, I never showed that, I was always a very open, happy, colorful type of person, it's just my nature. So when I did see these, I didn't compare them to me because I knew how I was, I didn't care what other people labeled that as because I knew that wasn't me, and it wasn't many of the other people who I hung out with that dealt with the same thing. As long as you know the truth and you know how you really are as someone who deals with it don't let it bother you.

And understand many people do this to themselves. I've met people who were ACTUALLY diagnosed and they displayed themselves in this way to get attention or fit in for being this way, because they didn't want what they were dealing with to separate them from people. Trust me I understand you, i really do. And i genuinely hate that you feel this way.

Yes I'm aware, but I'm saying people can attack you just for having it, and you know its just a last name, but what about people who aren't familiar with that being a last name and attack you for it cause of it being a satanic cult name. Yes these are two different topics, but they both can end in the same issue depending on how its brought to the table.

That's kinda my point, a bipolar person can be colorful (just for a few days LOL), but people think that they are changing their emotions constantly, like bruh. Same goes for depression, people think that they are all black or grey, these are labels, which means that people don't know about these issues, they just use them as aesthetics or for attention.

Ya, but you can easily explain that Mason is also a last name (wasn't that was the last name of the cult leader?), but if you want to explain why you have "depression" as your username, well...

And if you know that then stop making it an issue. Literally people will harass these normal people merely because they think they're trying to get attention and not for the name. Your basically telling me why its a problem and yet no one else sees it that way. Many people just ignore it, doesn't mean they don't care, but they don't let it get to them BECAUSE they know how it really is. Trust me when I see these people I just avoid them, I'm not causing a scene because I don't like their name or skin.

And as I said, if it's turning into that much of and issue just report them, the situation will get handled in a way you might like it or not. But come on, if they aren't doing anything please just leave them alone.

I respect and understand your opinion. But, I'm saying there are other ways of handling this besides harassing them directly. If you would like to see this issue fixed ask vertx what he thinks on the topic and if he can agree to the situation he'll have these names removed.

you can easily just say, "Oh I just wanted to use the name." or "Just for aesthetics." Why does it have to be "Oh because I liked the name since it's a mental illness and I think it will be a super cool aesthetic to have as my gamer tag! and you know there are people who actually have this illness but..." like really. Both are easy to explain.

I mean, I think it's very normalized, that's why a lot of people don't see it as an issue, and I understand that. What am I supposed to do? be quiet? I want to share this so people can realize that this is a real problem, not like racism or homophobia, but these people exist and some can just ignore it, others will find an issue. It's like saying that all gays are femenine or all black people are criminals, JUST NO. A lot of people find mental disorders dangerous, the reality is way different. Sorry if this message was offensive and including homophobia and racism, but I want people to know that this is disrespectful.

And I agree. As I said I'm not bashing you is disregarding your opinion. I actually understand and agree. Stating your opinion here is more then enough, and if people see it and are moved by what you said they'll change their name. But if they don't, there isn't much we can do. We can only hold our tongue and keep the peace.
