There has been a new hurricane sweeping the Carribeans region. This hurricane is named Hurricane Maria, and it is currently affecting islands like Puerto Rico. It has already made landfall in Dominica. It is now a Category 5 hurricane.
Critical Information:
1. This hurricane has already made landfall in Dominica.
2. It is currently threatening Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic.
3. It is the 4th major hurricane in 2017 so far.
4. It is currently 450 miles wide.
5. It has winds up to 165 miles per hour!
6. It is moving in a West-Northwest fashion(WNW)
7. You may see 20-25 inches of rain. In Puerto Rico, flash flooding will be a major issue.
8. This hurricane is moving at 10 miles per hour.

Evacuation Orders have been issues at Puerto Rico. Officials have said, "Evacuate or Die".

Staying Safe:
Safety is a major priority when dealing with a hurricane. If you are evacuating, please go to a safe spot. If you are staying during the hurricane, please follow the tips below.
1. Stock up on Water: Stock up on gallons of water. You will need water to stay hydrated. DO NOT drink Salt water. Make sure your water is safe and healthy to drink.
2. Stay away from Windows: Make sure to keep your Windows and doors locked. Keep away from Windows, it might shatter and break. You also might injure yourself.
3. Stock up on food: You need food to survive. Stock up on food. Make sure your family stocks up on gas just in case. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO OUTSIDE DURING THE HURRICANE!
4. Expect Power Outages: Do NOT go near electricity. You might electrocute yourself and die so Do NOT go near electricity. Power Outages will happen so make sure you have something to keep you occupied during the storm.
4. Have a first aid kit ready: Make sure you have batteries, flashlights, band-aids, and anything medical you might need like medicine if you fall ill.
