I honestly don't think it's meant to be a tree"house" and I think the tree is meant to look that way. It gives uniqueness to his map.

I think you should keep the design of the tree but edit the leaves....

They stick out a little far and it does make it look kinda weird. But I think the design is very unique and I haven't seen this in any other map that I personally have played on.
