Chꍏpter 4- What's Eric?

“I don’t like the looks of this.” Ian rubs his cheeks.

“Stop being such crybabies and let’s go. Unless you wanna stay here and get killed, that's on you. The rest of you guys, follow me!” Sadly leads the way down the hall and descends through a cylindrical, moss filled, staircase with some torches on the brick wall. Others follow.

Ian glances around the room with a staircase in front of him where it leads to God knows where. “Pff, who needs those amateurs, I can survive like this.” A few minutes later, Ian hears a knock on the window which sounds like pebbles being thrown.
“Uh, un second thought, wait for me guys!” Ian rushes down the spiral staircase like a little kid.

“Good choice, Ian.” Unlove pulls out her cherry lipstick from her purse.

“Rather be with you creeps than up there.” Ian crosses his arms.

“Hey, if you’re going to be with us, better cut that attitude.” Dist snaps.

“God, how I hate this place,” Ian whispered under his breath.

The spiral staircase felt like an endless amount of stairs laughing at you every time you took a step deeper into the abyss.

“I'm surprised that this guy has this much torches on his walls considering we’ve been walking for about a mile or two, I mean, that’s just me.” Dist stops to catch his breath.

“I mean, this guy is a psychopath- Who keeps a young girl's dead body under his bed.” Unlove thinks out loud and a shiver racks through her body.

“C’mon guys, I smell food for some reason which means that we must be getting closer. Now, let's move on.” Miner takes a torch from the wall.

Another few minutes go by until they finally step on a basic red carpet along with a lot of bookshelves covering every single wall in the small room. The room had a wooden small desk, a king’s chair, an actin cup with vodka, and bookshelves.

“This is it?” Ian takes a glance around the room.

“What did you expect from a creep’s mansion, Ian?” Sadly takks back.

“I don’t know, maybe a spa room and a sauna?” Ian goes silent.

“Everyone, look around and see if you can find any clues or even just a background story on this guy,” Dist explains to the room. Out of nowhere, from a distance above, the door slams shut, being heard like a chainsaw on Halloween night.

“Um, guys, I don’t know about you guys but, I think the door just shut from above us,” Miner points out. “Whatever, we’re gonna find a way out of here. But for now, find some clues or at least try to, will ya?” Miner kicks the red carpet in front of her and heads for the rear-end of the room as Sadly heads for the front desk.

“Any luck guys?” Unlove asks.

“Well, if we had found something by now, we would have told you, don’t ya think?” Dist gives him a death stare.

“Hehe, y-yea, I guess so.” She looks down at her shoes.

“These books look like they were written in the ’80s, and let me tell you, those were rough times.” Dist shakes his head in sadness.

“Shut up Dist, nobody cares about your “dark ages”, Ian pushes him onto the ground.

“HEY, KNOCK IT OFF.” Sadly grabs the collar of their shirts. and rips them apart.

“Holy sh- she’s strong.” Dist remarks.

“You can say that again,” Ian tries to breathe.

Sadly drops both of them onto the ground. “Girl can be strong too.” She spits at them. “By the way, I found a clue about who this guy ‘Eric,’ can actually be.”

She holds up a book that has a peculiar drawing of a kingdom and a castle on it along with a sword and a shield on the cover. It seemed like some kind of symbol...

“Well? What are you waiting for? Open it!”

Sadly opens the enchanted book and starts reading the text.

“A kingdom, a kingdom with beautiful people wandering around your homeland town. Not giving a damn about politics or any of that BS. My father gave me this kingdom to protect it when his time was up.
I woke up one day with the kingdom congratulating me that I was the new king. I was happy to take over my dad’s position and make things like dad always wanted. Sadly, one day, drugs took over my life and I started to kill everyone in the town person by person.
I’m so sorry, dad. I could never run this kingdom you built from the ground since day one.
Now, my job is to kill everyone and then, I can rest.
Nobody wants this but I know my dark shadow does.
Forgive me, father.”

“Woah, dark stuff.” Dist makes circular gestures with his hands.

“Hm, that explains why this guy is so dark,” Unlove says.

“But why have a kingdom in the first place? I mean, sure it was his father and all but why kill us just because of a drug problem? And besides, the police here sucks crackers.” Dist complains.

“Dist has a point. He could’ve given the role to someone that could handle running a kingdom but hosting a fake party just to kill us? I don’t know about you guys but that’s f-ed up.” Ian remarks.

“Well, whatever happened to him, good for him, we don’t c-a-r-e. This guy already killed one of our friends, we can’t let him kill another one.” Sadly explains it like she’s in a meeting with some uninterested people.

“I just think he needs someone to talk too, don’t you think? And what happened to his wife?” Miner questions.

“Oh, good question. Unfortunately for us, it doesn’t say it in this book.”

“Maybe I can help with that,” The door swings open from above them. It’s a voice most don’t recognize.

“But may I ask you, brave heroes, something? When’s Eric... coming back…?” Elk steps forward.
