Herobrine is quite a common username especially among hackers (like Anonymous, Herobrine_Hacker, etc), so it could just be that a hacker used the username Herobrine and got banned.
You could ask your son to simply change his username to something more unique and see if he is able to play ^_^

Oh,I see.The username "Herobrine" is banned from this server.My brother tried using that name once,but he was banned ._. But luckily it was just his name.If your son changes his name he can play I believe.
