Not ruined for me xD but maybe for some, I recently saw a video going briefly through the Minecraft updates, and I was surprised to see, that since the first official update came out, (in general look & feel) Minecraft hasn't changed too much, save for the very controversial 1.9 for java edition
This is to say anyways, It's not that Minecraft is ruined, most of the time, people think its 'dead' is not because it is ruined, but because they sorta played out their hours on it and outgrew/got tired of the game.

I had so many memories playing minecraft with my dead friend who passed away 3 years ago. Building rollercoaster after school, griefing old server, duping diamond blocks and making a house made out of it until we get banned by the admin and many more.
It really making me sad that i lost my world that i played with her because i opening it in 1.7 (java version) and made it got corrupted, all the things like the houses, rollercoaster, mob grinder (that never really worked at all) and other is gone by misplaced chunks
Yeah, minecraft has changed, completely. It's just not the same anymore. It's become too complicated and stuff. I thought it was an indie game, microsoft ruined it so much.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft doesn't decide what's put in the game, it's still Mojang/the community
but I get how you feel, it has gotten more complicated, but they kinda can't help it because they need to keep updating to keep it alive. Still, even if it is more complicated, it is still incredibly simple, and I really enjoy making a new world, or walking through an old world, listening to the music and enjoying the game. DLC currency was a bad idea. DLC was okay, but not a DLC currency.
Minecraft should never has dlc
But hey, i get your point, minecraft changed overtime, at least the game is still there and still enjoyable. I shouldn't be care about whatever they added to the game. New bosses, minecoins. I mean Mojang was selling skin packs ever since 2015, and they really didn't affect much. Microsoft just kind of made DLC too big of a deal and introduced the DLC currency.

Yes, I don't care for minecoins, but at least you're still able to get DLC from online websites, although, it's harder to find stuff than it is for java.
