Meet Tiger-Lily
She's your typical nerd.
The ebony thick-rimmed hipster glasses.
The black suspenders that are way too tight for her liking.
The quirky knee high socks.
The two crooked pony tails.
The list just goes on.
But whenever she's labelled a 'nerd' or a 'geek', she takes that name and owns it.
Because she knows there's nothing to be ashamed of when you're an overachiever.
She doesn't care about looks.
She doesn't want to be that cliche nerd who takes her glasses off, and her ponytails down, and she's suddenly beautiful.
*Cough* Not that she's tried before, or anything... *Cough*
She's a nerd.
That's all she'll ever be.
--She never said she was happy with being just a nerd, though.

I ran away to see who would come after me.
It's been six months.
No-one's coming.

She called herself Echo after she ran away.
Why?
She used to be appreciated, acknowledged, heard...
Now, she's slowly fading away.
Like an echo.
She's the kind of girl you don't want to pick a fight with.
Because if you do, oh, how you'll regret it.
It's pretty easy to get what you want when you're her.
Almost everyone's intimidated by her.
No-one accepts her.
That's one of the reasons she ran away.
She ran away from her problems.
At least that's what she thought.
Where do you run when you're running from yourself?

The girl every boy wants.
The girl every other girl wants to be.
The girl she doesn't want to be.

Meet Alijah.
You know, that girl who'll walk into a room, and time will slow down dramatically while everyone reluctantly admires her beauty?
You'll know what I'm talking about if you've seen one of those crappy cliche movies.
She's a walking Snapchat filter.
She's the Instagram Model other girls so desperately want to be.
The flawless, symmetrical face.
The long hair.
The thigh gap.
The natural, unblemished tan.
The body that society depicts as "perfect".
You know, the girl you'll see and immediately feel bad about your own appearance?
Yeah, you know the girl I'm talking about...
She may be perfect on the outside, but on the inside she's hiding something.
There's only time before her cracks begin to show, and she won't just be a pretty face anymore.

How can I be true to myself, but please my family at the same time?

Meet Matty.
She's your stereotypical tomboy.
Always playing sport outside, no matter if it's sunny or storming.
Always wearing old, tattered clothes. (Comfort before class, ladies.)
Always arriving home, painted in mud, backpack filled to the brim with sports equipment.
--At least, that's what she sees...
What her family sees is a fragile, petite (or from her Mother's viewpoint, 'fat') young lady.
Always in a layered, sophisticated dress to hide her 'love handles' and 'thick thighs'.
Always inaudibly reading a book, or hidden in her room, singing softly to herself.
"Young ladies should be seen, not heard.", is what her Mother always nastily remarks.
Always... being the utter opposite of her personality.
Matty wants to be heard.
Seen.
Admired.
She wants a voice.
A voice that's never interrupted by her Mother's.
Her own voice.
Hmph, guess a girl can dream...
