Maybe It Was You (Ray x Laura)
"YOU'RE GOING DOWN, PALMTREE!" Waves of hair rich with the darkest enchantment of brown rippled under a white bobble hat of a girl named Laura. Scooping up clouds of snow in her hands, she lunged towards a boy with hair capturing the essence of midnight and eyes holding the trim of summer's grass.
With luck, the boy managed to dodge and duck Laura's threatening swipes. For a PvP amateur, he was actually doing okay…until he made the worst mistake ever. He tripped over his own feet.
Yes, out of everything he could've done during a snowball war, he slipped. Into a hedge.
Laura clamped a hand over her mouth, loose laughs escaping, "Ray…are you…okay?"
"Well, apart from being prickled, yes, I'm doing great. What about you, Miss Meanie?" Ray peered up at the girl, a smile washed upon his face.
Laura laughed again, "I'll help you up," she eyed him, "but only if you say I won this fight."
"This was a fight? Oh sorry, I couldn't tell since you barely hit me."
"Remind me, who collapsed into the hedge?"
"I didn't 'collapse'."
"Oh yeah! You twirled gracefully into the green brambles," Laura swung a sarcastic tone into her voice, "You could be a ballerina."
Ray sighed, "At least I'd be more awesome than you. Fine, you won THIS fight. I can still redeem myself, y'know."
"Uhuh, sure. Now, say 'Laura is my queen'."
"You're not amazing enough to be queen."
Laura looked at him with exaggerated pity, "It looks like you want to stay in the snow forever. Well, goodbye-"
"Fine!" Ray muttered, "Laura is my queen."
The brunette smiled at him, "Now, that's more like it."
Her smile illuminated everything. She replaced the sun.
In that moment, Ray first saw Laura in a way he never did. Snowflakes skimmed freely against her hair as the cool air caressed her cheeks. Her brown waves were falling in front of her face teasingly and all Ray wanted to do was brush them to one side. Her eyes caught all sunlight in a bouquet of colour. Her lips were the colour of roses wrapped up in the love of spring. Everything about her was-
"Do you want to get up or not? My arm's dying here," Laura motioned her head to her outstretched arm. Ray took her hand.
The unfinished words echoed in his mind. In his heart. In his soul.
Everything about her was beautiful.
