Making skywars more legit

Ok so let’s be honest here: skywars isn’t about skill. Sure, some players r very good at
Pvp, but the reason why ldb players r on the leaderboard is because they have the most food. Whoever has the most food wins. So can u guys pls don’t make skywars about food and make it more about pvp. Ik u guys r trying to be “original” but it’s not fun for actual pvp gods (I’m not a pvp god btw)

I think it depends on the maps and chest honestly, like some maps I’ll have a HUGE amount of food and other maps I can barely find anything at all or sometimes I can’t even find good weapons / armor. ˎ₍•ʚ•₎ˏ

But like if u bad armor and a lot of food, u will probably still win.

Personally, I think chests should have less different kinds of food, so the food you find is stackable, and more food is found in chests, so food based kits are still good but not as good. This idea may lead to a buster dominant meta though that I said, but I think is a good solution.
Or, players get food for killing other players resulting in skilled aggressive players benefiting instead of losing food and being at disadvantage for playing a more skill based playstyle.

There is a good skill gap to SW although I see your point. Even I am guilty of food hording. I usually have like 2 slots for the food my kit gives me, and I usually have 2 other slots open for food, one where the axe would be and where the blocks are. It massively helps. AKA use your hotbar mainly for food, and you'll be at advantage.
I think skywars is about 70% PVP based 10% resource management and another 20% strategy. Maybe bumping it up to 80% PVP would be good. SW and many other PVP games isn't all PVP, and there is definitely more to it than a game like MB. Skywars is a different ball game than other games, and I do like that!
