Day 5

"So you're saying," Dany started, looking at Timeless. "That the murderer has a 'Z' in their signature?"
"Well, I think it's a 'Z'," Timeless replied, scratching the back of his head. "But it also looked like a backwards 'S'."
"I see," Dany murmured, stroking his chin.
He stood up again.
"I'm going to look for more clues," he told Timeless. "Want to come with me?"
Timeless shrugged and followed him out of their cabin.
Zoey was rather cheerful that day. It was her birthday, and she would not let a murderer-on-the-loose ruin her special day. As Zoey walked into the dark living room, the lights turned on and there sat her friends, smiling from ear to ear.
"Happy Birthday Zoey!" they cheered.
Jely carried a cake over from the kitchen and set it in front of Zoey. The song was sung, the candles were blown out, the cake was cut, and they all had a nice meal. They all relaxed on the sofa, sometimes dozing off.
"You guys feel s-s-sleepy?" Hannah yawned, her eyelids closing.
"What did you put in the cake Jely?" Zoey turned slowly to her friend.
Jely was already fast asleep, her head leaning on Zoey's shoulder. One by one, they all dozed off into a deep sleep.
The cabin door opened and in walked two tourists. They smiled at the sight of their fellow tourists, sleeping.
"I see you added the sleeping drugs in the cake mixture," one said to the other.
"They were foolish to leave their mixture in the open." the other laughed.
The two tourists walked closer to them until they were a few metres away. One murderer grabbed a person's arm; the other murderer grabbed another person.
"What should we do with them?" one asked the other.
The other murderer gazed around the room until their eyes landed on the roaring fireplace. Grinning evilly, the murderer threw Hannah into the fire, the other murderer doing the same. The flames licked at Jely's and Hannah's bodies as they were slowly roasted to death.
"I think that's enough for today," the murderer said and walked out of the cabin, followed by the other murderer.
Zoey screamed when she saw Jely and Hannah in the fireplace. She put out the fire and gave out a sob. Their faces were charred and burnt, their expression still sleep-like. Fuzzy knelt beside Zoey and hugged her, staring at their dead friends. They only had each other left.
